Klonoa Wiimake is awesome
Just thought I would tell you guys that if you liked Klonoa for the PS, the remake on Wii is excellent. The graphics and sound have all been bumped up considerably, and the old gameplay is still there.
I don't know if this one is coming to the U.S., or if it's coming to the U.S. with changes(I hear they want to change Klonoa's design), so if you have the ability to play Jap games on your Wii, this is an awesome grab.

It is indeed rumored to come to the US. Possibly with changes to make it more marketable to the North American gamer (IE making it shitty).

The first Klonoa on the GBA was brilliant, a real platformer, thight and to the point, without all this running around trying to find stuff that started to creep in to every platformer in the nineties.drboom wrote:Even the GBA game was excellent!
The Playstation one looks cute but seems to lack tightness compared to the GBA one. There's to much running around.
There's really not a whole lot of pointless running around in any of them, (and I've played them all, even the wonderswan version). I would say the formula on the original PSX version is very similar to the GBA ones, just with better graphics. There are still different areas you have to go through before you get to the next area, switches to hit, etc.. It's just the graphics are better
BTW the PSX version is the original & came out like 4 years before the first GBA one. So you can't really say the "PSX version got convoluded by ideas, while the GBA version remained true to form".

If more 2D people would go to the 2D Gaming Forum, there would be more people to talk about 2D games with other 2D fans on the tootie gaming forum. It's 2Dlicious. For real yall

Yeah, I just got that one actually(late to the game).Shelcoof wrote:I'm actually playing the PS2 sequel as we speak. Great game btw
It's quite good also. I'm not sure which one I prefer. The second one plays with the 2.5D aspect a lot, while the first one is a bit more straight up platformer. One thing that I noticed is the first one is a bit more...and man I hate using this word...magical. The stage design and music is a bit more fanciful.
Klonoa 2 seems more anime inspired.
But both are excellent. Never played the handhelds though.

Anyway, one problem with owning the Japanese version is that all the option menus are in Japanese. I mean, usually you get more English in the menus in J games. Well, most of the ones I get anyway. I wonder what all the options are. If anyone ever finds a translation online, let me know.

By the way, I'd just like to mention that the word "wiimake" makes me want to throw up. It makes you sound like a 2 year old, and this trend "wiimote", "wiimake", etc, will probably hinder the language development of millions of american children.
Re-mote....???? I always thought it was wemote? That's what mommy and daddy always called it

I know the PSX version was the original (but not that there was such a large timespan between that one and the first GBA one) but you know how it was back when the PSX was new, everything had to bigger and better and it's only too easy to 'expand' upon the classic platform formula by bloating the gameworld without changing the game mechanics to fit the new size. It still looks tight enough on the PSX but it's a lot easier to achieve this on a handheld all the same.indstr wrote:BTW the PSX version is the original & came out like 4 years before the first GBA one. It's whatever your willing to pay for it.lilmanjs wrote:would $80 be too much for the ps1 game? I've got a demo of the game and I loved it like crazy. the $80 is how much a video game store has the game on sale for.
I've spent hundreds on games before regardless of what console it's for it all depends on how much your willing to pay for it.
There are a ton of great games I'd shell out hundreds for but don't due to the fact that they are cheap

Only thing I would suggest is do research before buying, don't pay 80$ for a game just because the seller is selling it for that much. Look for the best price if you can.
??? What's wrong with that video? It's good old Klonoa with some sweet ass graphics. I'm adding it to my "list of next gen console games to play" (whenever I get a next gen console)UnscathedFlyingObject wrote:fuck no, they ruined it no more candidate goty.

I've never played the original Klonoa, but I have played both the Gameboy Advance games. The games have almost zero replay value after you figure out how to solve all the puzzles. I'm not gonna bother if the original was also like this. Is it?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Well, others would be better at answering this than me, but I have read from other sites that they are inferior to the PS ones. But some folks here like them more. I dunno.MathU wrote:I've never played the original Klonoa, but I have played both the Gameboy Advance games. The games have almost zero replay value after you figure out how to solve all the puzzles. Here's a clip. Does it look like it plays the same? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZ7bSsAUCCQ

Same, except some of the levels require you to tilt the system vertically as well. I enjoyed itD wrote: There's also a wonderswan version. I wonder how that plays.
