Yes, your japanese x360 will work off a european power brick, this is what I'm using currently with my console. Any 203W or 175W (and 150W if your console is a Jasper) power brick will be suitable.ChurchOfSolipsism wrote:Anyone have any info on whether it's possible to use any old German power brick to power a Japanese Xbox360? edit: I just checked my Xbox; it says it needs 12V and 12,1A (so it should be a Jasper?). I was trying to find a power brick on Ebay, but the German ones all seem to be 16,5A. Using one of these isn't possible, is it? Don't the Jaspers have different plugs, too?

Hi, I am new the forum, nice to meet you all!
I have a question, I recently imported a Jp xbox360(100v-110v, 175W. Jasper), I am living in Canada(120v), the xbox turns on fine w/ the original psu(power supply unit). I was wondering, in the long run, will this voltage difference(10-20vs) cause problem to my xbox?
Should I just go to gaming store nearby and grab a new psu for the xboxes in NA? Will it be competitable to the xbox I have?
Thanks in advance for answering!

they sell voltage stepdown/converter boxes for using foreign electronics. It will be more than a simple cable if your country does not match what is found in japan. Basically you still use the cable that comes with your xbox, but you plug it into a device that transforms everything safely for you. You'll have to know the voltage of your home region and that of the foreign device.
Sorry I can't give you specifics 110-240, since in the US i get to use the J hardware without any devices.
search "voltage converter"

I'm going to be traveling to Japan in the near future, and will be purchasing a 360 there.
My concern is how exactly I should be transporting it on the plane ride back to America.
Should I take it with me as a carry on (x-ray scan effects?) or put in the suitcase luggage (rough handling by luggage handlers)?

carryon, trust me. Ive done it with DC's, xbox and laptops. you don't want those things on the luggage.mistcore wrote:I'm going to be traveling to Japan in the near future, and will be purchasing a 360 there.

Elixir - this thread and the first post are just amazing! Thanks so much for your efforts - I can't believe I only just discovered it!
I'm going to set-up a Japanese account soon so I can get the Raiden IV extras, but I have a thought. Once I buy and download the extra ships, can I use them on my UK gamertag? I only ask as I already play the game with that account, and have some scores on the leaderboard with that gamertag. It would be a shame to have to climb the tables again with a new name...

I've got a question.
Do you guys have issues with downloading some games with a US Xbox Live account and end up getting them in Japanese? I've tried downloading Megaman 9 and I ended up getting it in Japanese(Rockman 9). My system language settings are set to English and everything. I guess it's not that big of a deal but my Tales of Vesperia Demo has the same problem.

yes i believe you can use any dlc with any account on the machine it was downloaded to, but it's locked to that machine (unless you use the DRM tool thing, which can only be done once a year), so if you transfer it to another xbox, to use it you have to be on the account you used to downloaded it and be connected to xbox live.spadgy wrote:I'm going to set-up a Japanese account soon so I can get the Raiden IV extras, but I have a thought. I have a question too - has anyone had a Japanese account change region? i had a Japanese one set up and used it to download the raiden fighters demo, but now when i look on the marketplace there is no Japanese content, it's like it's changed back to a normal UK one?

Somebody else mentioned something along those lines a few months back, but to be honest I thought it was bollocks. Have you checked the settings for the account in question? Is your region still set up as Japan?
Got a question of my own. I bought the Asian version of Tales of Vesperia last year. Was having a look on the Japanese marketplace the other day and noticed that there's free downloadable content for it.
Will content from the Japanese marketplace work with an Asian region game? I'd try it out, but given that I can't read Japanese I wouldn't know whether or not it'd slotted into the game, as I have no idea exactly what the content is anyway.

Yes, it will work. But in Vesperia's case, once you use the DLC it will become attached to your save file, so if you play the game on another 360, you'll need to download the DLC again.

thanks for the reply. i agree it does sound like bollocks i looked at the locale (sp?) setting and it was UK, so i tried changing it to Japan and that didn't help, tried to change the language too but didn't know which one was Japanese i've never tried it on the Asian 360, only my pal one. tbh i think i'll just set another account up when MBL comes outE. I'm seeing a lot of people asking about trying to modchip their 360 or whatever, in order to play imports. You can't do this, so don't bother. I've added it to the guide.

- How can you tell the difference between console versions?
Clerks usually scan the barcodes of 360s that are sold, which is supposedly their security measure of accountability, but in reality we all know it's just so that if anything wrong happens to their store, they can cover their own asses. If you peer through the gap, you'll probably find one of these:
Falcon:
Jasper:
There's nothing wrong with owning a Jasper unit over a Falcon, nor is there anything wrong with owning a Falcon over a Jasper. The only real advantage which the Jasper has is the on-board 256MB RAM to cover the NXE update which requires a memory card or HDD in Falcon or previous models. I have a JP Falcon which I purchased at the end of September of 2008, and it's fine. Differences between Falcon and Jasper units can be found here.
Apart from purchasing an Japanese 360 physically, there's no way to tell which unit you will be receiving. You could always try emailing Play-Asia but there's still no guarantees, and I've not personally done this before.
