Can you give me an idea how it plays with the GC controller, since that's the way I would prefer to play it.Jockel wrote:Played the first two chapters today. I love it so far.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
The game is a little harder to control with the Gamecube controller. You aim with the c-stick and move around with the analog stick. You can switch these around though if you want, even put the movement to the d-pad. You shoot by pressing the right shoulder button and use your special attack by clicking the right shoulder button. Left shoulder button is for dodging.evil_ash_xero wrote:Can you give me an idea how it plays with the GC controller, since that's the way I would prefer to play it.Jockel wrote:Played the first two chapters today. I personally can't stand using the Gamecube's tiny c-stick for anything other than camera controls. The remote works great. The game plays great. Yos. K was on top of the leader boards already when I last checked.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
This is what I love about the pointer functionality of the Wiimote; it allows 3d shooting games to be a lot "harder," while maintaining the same absolute difficulty. Hope I explained that comprehensibly. Perhaps they will include GC controller support as a sort of extra-hard mode . And I agree that this might as well be in shmups chat, S&P is the closest thing to a 3D shmup I've ever played, and I can't think of any other forum where there are so many people with legitimate interest in this game.adversity1 wrote: Ironically, Nakagawa later goes on to describe how when they submitted S&P2 to Nintendo for approval, Nintendo came back and told them the game was too easy. They had apparently produced a deliciously difficult game using the gamecub controller, but with the nunchuk the game was apparently way too easy. So they had to adjust a lot of stuff to make it harder. Treasure!

I have zero fucking idea how a Treasure game where you shoot stuff and compete for score is Off Topic on this site.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
Mayhaps because it's obviously outside the realms of what we here normally define here as a shooter? It's not just shooting stuff and points that count, otherwise we'd have to count Duck Hunt as a shmup.

I'm gonna repeat Sky Kid's question, before it gets buried. Does this work in Gecko OS? Mine's coming in in a few days, and I would really be disappointed if it didn't work.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
The guy with the 4 orbs? You can only hit him when his shield is down, which takes a while. When he's teleporting around the screen dash on top of him and start swinging your sword, eventually he'll get hit from this. Then he'll warp back in to the distance and throw his orbs at you. You can shoot him here, or knock the orbs back at him with your sword. Those are the only times I noticed where you could hit him.bVork wrote:I'm dumb. How does one beat the stage 2 boss? Ouch...So far, it's selling worse than the N64 original. Hopefully the US and EU releases pick up the slack, assuming they don't get canceled because of the Japanese version's poor performance so far.

Here's the Classic Controller config translation for anyone who'd like it =] And in case anyone's wondering, the beginning tutorial doesn't really say anything useful (provided you've played SnP1), except that apparently Isa's shot targeting is manual, whereas whats her name's is automatic -

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
Yeah, it is quite unfortunate. If I recall correctly, the original sold quite well on the NA VC, so perhaps sales will be better in the west, but I doubt it. Real shame. I've been saying for a while that Nintendo should hand the Starfox franchise over to Treasure; that would be sure to sell.adversity1 wrote:At that rate they should've just put that shit out on the 360.

I suspect that Nintendo actually owns the rights to the series.adversity1 wrote:At that rate they should've just put that shit out on the 360.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
Well, they are publishing the game, so even if they don't own the series, one could make the argument that it's not exactly a "third-party" game. However, the average consumer doesn't really pay attention to who publishes a game, and as this game doesn't really have name recognition, Nintendo's direct involvement isn't going to make much of a difference. That said, Nintendo has been featuring the game quite a bit at expos and such, and it has gotten quite a bit of coverage in the mainstream videogame media. But as Adversity points out, no amount of media coverage seems to be able to help these types of titles on the Wii. The problem is purely name recognition; Resident Evil sells great, and Okami sells like shit.Ex-Cyber wrote:I suspect that Nintendo actually owns the rights to the series.

Re: Sin & Punishment 2
That sucks, because this is a really good game. It never seem like Treasure ever have any hits, unless it's some Wario game that no one knows they made. No wonder they only make licensed games and sequels anymore.
Perhaps they should have stuck with that shmup they were working on for the 360. 20-30 thousand for preorders for Cave games would certainly get my attention, if I only sold less than 6 thousand in the first week.
I'm glad it's out, and that they made it..I just feel kind of bad for them.

this game is brilliant...can't believe those sales numbers I'm blaming it on the Wii.. How did games like No More Heroes and Madworld compare in Japan with the first sales numbers?
