Adding auto-fire

Post by rolins »

Where can I find instructions to add auto-fire to a joystick?

Some things I want the auto-fire to do...
- Auto-fire for single button
- use a DPDT slide switch to turn it ON/OFF
- when auto-fire is turned ON, all I have to do is hold down a button
- if possible make the auto-fire adjustable with a rotary potentiometer like on a Nes Advantage

Will this work on a Neo Geo stick?

if it's for neo geo you're looking for, you could buy a Hori Fighting Stick (fighting stick 2 is slightly nicer than the original model). personally, i prefer the ultra tight stick on normal SNK arcade sticks, but the Hori does have auto-fire for every button

is this for metal slug X by any chance...?

I know of the Hori Fighting stick but I'm on a tight budget here. That's why I want to just build auto-fire myself to save money.

Nope, its mainly for the Toaplan shmups. Plus, building a auto-fire into a joystick has been on my list of things to do.

This should work with any "normal" button (not with analogue triggers etc.).
I just picked this tutorial because it was the most detailed one.

Adding auto fire is on on my list, too - so I just had to check my bookmarks ;)
