To delete or not to delete?

Post by Skykid »

As there's suddenly plenty of negativity about my collection thread (that's the one with pictures in it) and it's updates, I reckon just put it to the vote.

If people think it's flagrant egoism and therefore unworthy as on off-topic thread, I'd just as happily delete it from shmups. There are sites specifically for this sort of thing, so it can always go elsewhere.

Vote accordingly.

Whaaat? If you delete it then I can't get in offtopic jabs at you about it. :(

This definitely needed its own topic, though.

Well I just figured there's been so much talk about it (as if there's nothing else to talk about) I didn't want to give a bad impression. Sometimes it's difficult to judge how people see things, so I'd just as soon put the thread to rest if it's going to reflect badly on me.

This is quite the turnaround from some of your earliest posts here. No offense, but when blood's in the pool, the sharks will be out. Nothing suspicious about that.

I didnt check the situation, but i'm sure ignoring thsoe special faggots will help out here.
Your collection is amazing and a nice asset (?) to Offtopic (eyeporn).

How about summing them up on another site, blog or whatever and put this link in your signature? Just in case you really want to have them removed from the board.

+1 for no. I think this is the way to do it, everyone with his/her(?) own thread. The heavy, stickied written collection thread has grown out of proportion is is not very fun to browse through in the first place.

What is Wong with it? I would just like you to stop referring to Your Asian like another otaku trophy, as I'm pretty sure The Thing responds to a name or at least an appropriate pronoun.

Gah! Back to this again!

At which point do the words 'keep' and 'again' have relevance? The first and only time was a private joke between the two of us that she originally coined - what's the point in harping on?

Jeez man, was that even worth posting?

In the context of Del's original quote, it's hardly a big deal. Let's not clutch at straws.

Fine. I guess I'll save my zingers for the third time you slip, but we won't have to worry about that.

Augh. Of course, of course "smacks forehead", because you know so much about me and my relationship - after all you've known the two of us for years. Why shouldn't you be able to pass judgement on a whim, you've clearly got the insight and intelligence to figure everything out on your own without any kind of proof.

Perhaps I could leave all this to Del, Spadgy and Rupert - three forum members who met the two of us at Battle of Destiny on the weekend, instead of people like you who piss off to other forums to badmouth members of shmups in secret.

C'mon. It seems unfair to dig at Skykid's relationship with his girlfriend here. Even having spent a day with the two of them, and knowing Skykid pretty well in the real world outside this forum, I'm not placed to judge how they do what they share together, and if I were forced to I'd say they seem bloody wicked together! If they take the piss (is that an internationally recognised expression for mockery? I still can't work it out!) out of each other with silly digs, good for them, and who are we to take issue?

Me and my wife, the lovely she-squirrel Mrs. Spadgy, take this piss out of each other all the time. It seems to be a thing a lot of perfectly happy, caring, respectful couples do.

On topic, I vote to keep the collection thread. It's great to see what you've got Skykid, if only to remind myself my collecting habit isn't to bad!

Everyone jokes around with their partner, and to outsiders, it can often sound offensive, when in actuality it is usually indicative of a particularly loving relationship.

All this self consciously politically correct, white middle-class post-colonial guilt is starting to get on my tits.

Nice to see some sense, thankyou guys for that.

MX7, some wise words there, especially about the PC bull - tis annoying.

That said, prior to this I always through that JoshF was a particularly smart and interesting contributor - one of my faves. We've had intelligent discussions about political situations in Tibet (which included Ed Obscuro) where we all stood on the same side.

That's not to say he's no longer a valid contributor - but in this thread?...well, make up your own minds.

I vote keep, because it demonstrates my theory that people collect largely (hey, didn't say exclusively) so they can show their collection off. :P

Someone here is jealous. No prizes for guessing who.

Ps. We need more Italians in this thread. Drama must get increased :!:

Skykid, it's the Offtopic. This sort of behavior seems to be mandatory. If you want to delete it, then delete it. Seeing as everyone else voted "no"...
