Incredible movie. Just incredible. The writing in it is superb, Ledger did an amazing job as the Joker, and it was just an insanely well done film. I can't say too much without spoiling stuff, so just make sure you go catch it in the theaters, because its definitely worth it!!!!
For those of you into comics (specifically, Batman):
Ledger pulled off the "Killing Joke"-era Joker perfectly. I mean... he just did it perfectly, there's no other way to say it.
Also, the writing in this film is on par with even Loeb. Its incredible how well written this movie is.

I feel the opposite, it seems to be a really hyped movie that will be very popular, just like the last one. Maybe it's a bit darker, so it's not exactly for kids, but it's not meant to be.

I was actually meaning the depiction of fat people which was displayed throughout the movie.

Most definitely. Its obvious their primary influences for this one were "The Killing Joke" and "The Long Halloween", though "The Long Halloween" was a large influence for Batman Begins as well.
I'm kind of wondering what they're going to do for the third movie though. With the style in which they're doing this flicks, they've kinda used up all the best baddies for the psychological thrill ride. I mean, Hush would be cool, but Hush can't really be pulled off that early on Batman's life. Clayface would degenerate into too much of a CG spectacle.
Mad Hatter maybe? Best one I can think of at the moment anyways.
Who the hell else could they do? The Penguin? The Riddler? Mr. Freeze? Bane?
Can't do Bane this early in Batman's life. The Penguin might be interesting, but given the feel of the past two movies I don't think he'd work out too well. He eventually quit crime anyways. Same with Riddler, who would just be corny.
I was originally going to wait for this movie to come out on DVD, but out of everyone I know who's seen it, not a single person had a bad word to say...
This is not similation. Get ready to destoroy the enemy. Target for the weak points of f**kin' machine. Do your best you have ever done.
Let's face it. Outside of the new Mr. Freeze, Scarecrow and the Joker (and maybe Two-Face) most Batman villains are just plain comical and corny.
Poison Ivy is hot, though.
Catwoman would be kinda lame. But I could see her being a support character.
I dunno, the way the Nolan brothers have been doing these they seem to prefer the psychological style villains, and aside from Hush, I can't really think of anymore of those Batman tends to have. I guess the Penguin could work, but he's kinda cheesy.
Why not come up with an original villain? Why stay anchored to the comic?

I was left wondering who they'd use as a villain in the next movie also, I really can't think of much. It's really too bad that Heath Ledger died, now they can't do a lot of things, mainly bringing in a Robin and killing him. I do have some other thoughts on what could happen though. Potential spoilers and baseless speculation ahead...
The way they left it it seems like the next movie would be later on somewhat. And they seemed to focus a fair amount on Gordon's son for no particular reason, but not his daughter at all. So he could possibly turn into a Robin, Oracle, or something else when he's older. Lucius Fox is gone, and so is the Tumbler (thankfully) so perhaps there will be a new more traditional looking Batmobile. I'm at a loss for villains, I think Ras would've been a better character for later in the series, I don't remember what happened to him in Batman Begins, but it would be possible that someone dragged him to a lazarus pit and brought him back. I think it could be interesting to see a lot of the other baddies in the comics, but I can't think of any others that would be very good on their own.
I just came back from it, and I am absolutely blown away. It was brilliant in every aspect. Heath Ledger did an incredible job with the Joker. The story, writing, action, cinematography, everything was just top-notch. The plots within plots reminded me of something out of Dune. The Joker was completely unpredictable and psychotic, every character had real depth... man, I'm rambling but I'm in a state of awe right now about how incredible the movie was.
This movie will win awards, guaranteed.

I too left the theater really wondering how they pulled off something so well. The plot layering was excellent, and the fact that it kept shying away from any kind of bright glimmer of hope that most comic movies have was pretty bold. The Joker was exactly how I had hoped he would be portrayed. By the end of the film he really, really gets into your head as a psychotic, as well as a calculated mastermind. All in all, one of the best films I have seen in a long time.
Funny thing is, I went with a group and one guy said "it was ok.." and his main gripe was that he likes the Joker to be full of comic mischief. I told him he should watch Caesar Romero in the 1966 Batman movie. He's got assloads of comic mischief.
