After this, and MS's press conference, Sony better have something huge up their sleeves to announce tomorrow.

I dont. more power to MS. but what is it going to run best on 360 or PS3?Elixir wrote:Feeling kinda sorry for those PS3 owners right now. Their exclusives are going out the window.

I think I just threw up a little in my mouth.ZeetherKID77 wrote:holy shit a remake of FF8
I've heard everything from cross-platform, to the idea that XIII is going to be for the PS3 in Japan but the 360 for the US and Europe. I'm waiting until E3 is over and all the fanboys shut their collective flame holes until I actively investigate this.
could wind up the same quality wise.... especially with the new ability to do a HDD instal on any game.I dont. more power to MS. but what is it going to run best on 360 or PS3?
the silly thing is all the hate PS3 owners are gonna shower the internet with over this.
BTW tempest... Their is nothing to investigate. It's coming to 360 on the same day the USA and Euro versions are on the PS3. Dunno about japan.
They're both going to have the same characters, story and are both going to be made by Square-Enix, so it really doesn't matter.Lordstar wrote:I dont. more power to MS. but what is it going to run best on 360 or PS3?Elixir wrote:Feeling kinda sorry for those PS3 owners right now. But you've already posted.

At any rate...
Microsoft, you're lame. You have Mistwalker sitting around somewhere, Sakaguchi, the man who created Final Fantasy is virtually owned by you, and you have not brought Mistwalker out to your giant RPG day OR to E3.
What the fuck? Where's Cry On? Where's Blue Dragon 2? Where's the announcement for Lost Odyssey 2 which has sold over 700K worldwide now?
Bah!
RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE!!!!!!
yeah.. this would be the only concern. but this game was in development on PS3 1st... if anything I'd bet the 360 would get the short end.People should be worried less about exclusivity and more about how multi-platform development hinders the overall product.
SE is a large company like capcom. RE5 for instance... I'm not concerned about that game in the slightest. it'll look equal on both.
but a game like Call of Duty 4... it's not my thing. on a technical level though it looked identical on both consoles is quite fantastic looking on a technical level... all at a steady 60 FPS on both consoles. Sony got Bioshock and I bet it will look just as good if not better.
besides... this game is gonna be half fucking recorded video footage like the rest I bet. If not I bet they'll do the same thing the PS2 did with the RE4 port over from the game cube. If it's a cutscene and not interactive (QTE included)..... they'll just record em on the 360 version.
Theres still more than a few exclusives coming out for the PS3, and personally my holy trinity of exclusives are all more than likely to stay PS3-only; LittleBigPlanet, White Knight Story & whatever the hell Team ICO are working on (I don't know what it is, I just know it'll be 110% awesome :p)Elixir wrote:Feeling kinda sorry for those PS3 owners right now. I can totally understand SquareEnix's reasoning for this though, the PS3 lacks the installed user base, the 360 lacks quality JRPGs (although SquareEnix seem to be on a one-company mission to change this) and seeing multi-platform games like COD4 do 10 million, you can't blame SquareEnix for wanting a piece of the action. The Sony fanboy meltdowns across the internet have been priceless to behold.
it doesn't take much....The Sony fanboy meltdowns across the internet have been priceless to behold.
FF13 is coming out on another system also.... OMG I hate life. Half the game is probably gonna be non interactive cut scenes like ALL of them have been since 6. If that's the case they ca just record half the game as video and it'd look the same as lond as the video was in HD and not badly compressed.
Evey one acts like the game is jesus on a stick but all we have seen is a few trailers that may or may not be running off an actual PS3 so far.
PS3 owners are gonna still get the "precious"..... they'll just have to deal with 360 owning FF cos-players now.

sure am, final fantasy can be major cool. I just hope they get a little more original and avoid the usual "save the planet against the empire scenario". Then again, they seem to have been making cool different games even though always based on that same pattern. Only played 6 and 7, but loved them.Strider77 wrote:is anyone excited for game regardless of platform?

Yeah, I was discussing with a friend just earlier why I thought a lot of next gen games weren't being all they could be, since they weren't taking full advantage of the PS3s power, due to being made for two systems at once.GaijinPunch wrote:People should be worried less about exclusivity and more about how multi-platform development hinders the overall product.

So Dave doesn't know Roman numerals? Surprise surprise.
By the way, FF13 won't be released for Xbox360 in Japan. That can' be good for MS.
Short look at the big picture: PS3 has now been outselling X360 on a global scale 8 months in a row, but 360 still is 5.7 million consoles ahead.
In related news, it has just been hinted that Star Ocean 4 may no longer be an X360 exclusive: http://www.n4g.com/News-169673.aspx
EDIT: typo

I can't see how this is bad for MS. Xbox 360 has already lost the console race in Japan (not that anyone ever considered it a runner), and you of all people know that. What would MS gain from a Japanese release? The PS3 version would outsell the Xbox version 100 to 1 and the media would have a field day.Ceph wrote:By the way, FF13 won't be released for Xbox360 in Japan. That can' be good for MS.

PS. you forgot the dollar sign from M$
Doesn't everyone know how MS operates by now? They did the exact same thing before they ever got into the gaming market.
1: make a crappy product/steal a decent product/buy someone else's good product
(see: 360, DOS, Windows, anything else they've ever made)
2: market the product for the developers instead of the end-users
(see: Windows with OEM pre-packaging deals and DirectX, 360 with developer tools and xbox live fees which charge the users for the 3rd party's server hosting)
3: buy out or make exclusivity deals with every developer
(see #2, Windows software exclusivity, this thread)
4: keep gaining market share until everyone is basically forced to use MS's products despite the fact that they suck
5: ?????
6: profit!
(sorry)
We can see the whole thing repeated with MS in the console market. It's entirely possible the same thing will happen as the PC market; MS will gain total dominance except for small competition (Apple/Nintendo) that will refuse to completely give up. And MS will continue to make shoddy products like the 360 that crash every few months and need to be replaced. And MS will continue to charge money for even more bullshit that has always been free. And gamers will put up with it because they have to if they want to play the games they like. I've been predicting this since MS first came out with the Xbox years ago and it always filled me with dread.
Not that I care about FFXIII, I really don't. I just hate MS and I'd rather see a generous sample of console exclusives FOR EACH CONSOLE, equally, or rather nothing but multiplatform releases. MS is working toward getting all of them (except Nintendo first-party games of course) and that can't be good for gamers.

"I think Ikaruga is pretty tough. It is like a modern version of Galaga that some Japanese company made."
Kengou got it right.
Using their illegally obtained operating system monopoly Microsoft has gained enough financial backup to enter any market they please and eventually dominate it. 4 Billion+ USD losses with their first generation video game system? They paid that out of the petty cash.
If not for those pesky anti-dumping laws, Microsoft would probably have given Xbox away.
It's funny how people seem to keep forgetting that compared with Microsoft, Sony is tiny:
Sony's net income: US$ 3.694 Billion (2008)
Microsoft's net income US$ 14.065 Billion (2007)
Sony's market capitalization: US$ 40.56 Billion (2008)
Microsoft's market capitalization: US$ 259.75 Billion (2007)
The larger they are, the fewer morals corporations have. The more power they have, the more they tend to abuse it.
Microsoft worries me, as a gamer and as a citizen of the world. One would have to be pretty ignorant or dense not to be worried.
