My Valis III cartridge is not cooperating with me.

Post by it290 »

Tell me what cheesy-bad 16-bit platformer I should play instead (not Alisia Dragoon).

Flatulent Lagoon?

Or Pirates of Dark Water, yes.

Or Doom Truppen.

Or Ranger-X (Ex-Ranza).

I would say Atomic Runner now but it's actually awesome, one of my top ten genesis games

so then there's always Rocket Knight Adventures 2

Mysterious Stones eh? Hmm.. never tried that one. Will have to give it a go.

Mystic Defender and Rings of Power were actually two of the carts I pulled out.. I've been on a Genesis kick lately, even using the ol' three-button for nostalgic purposes. Just wish I could find a damn copy of El Viento for a decent price.

he said cheesy-bad. Half of those aren't bad ya big lush.

And if we're listing ones that aren't bad, you didn't list Wardner or Snow Bros

Never played them, and I never recommend games I've never played.

Plus, considering there are people who think Ristar is a horrid game, what's cheesy-bad to someone is up in the air. So I just listed a bunch of the Genesis platformers I could think of off the top of my head.

Welp, I don't really think Valis III is all that bad either, it's just, y'know, got that certain ambience.

Anyhow, I settled on a couple of rounds of Altered Beast for now. Doesn't get much cheesier than that.

edit -- wait a minute. Rings of Power is an RPG... I have that one, but never got anywhere in it due to the weird-as-hell interface. I had it confused with Jewel Master.

Speaking of that: Alien Storm, E-Swat.

I think there's a fun easter egg for Rings of Power - then again, maybe not, considering how fun the game looked when I tried it out a few years ago.

By the way, sorry to see your old avatar go, although I like this new V-Five one too.

Yeah, the 'nude scene' occurs before the title screen even appears. ;)

duh.... El Viento and Earnest Evans
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Goldenaxe 2 for the yay
I played this, too -- I had forgotten how epic the music was. You know I'm on a serious Sega binge when I bust out Altered Beast _and_ Golden Axe 2 (let's not even talk about Bonanza Brothers).

I was going to, I promise! -- just that it was of primary importance that I get an immediate reply. As penance, I will make a post about Mondu's Fight Palace, or Final Zone, or something. ;)

Hmmm, I don't know if there is also a devil hunter yohko game for the Super Famicom... There is one for the Pc Engine Cd, it's not a platformer though.

Magical Taluluto Kun is a fun platformer. Short but great in a silly world.
In a more blasting way of things there are Midnight Resistance and Assault Suit Leynos.
Finally if you want a valis tinted gameplay with a somewhat darker/weirder environment you might try Psycho Dream on the super famicom. It's a Telenet game too.

Magical Hat Fuckstick Daibouken (as it is called in my forum)

Better level design than Decap Attack, and harder, and better looking.

Ah man... I used to play the shit out of Decap Attack as a kid.

Psycho Dream looks interesting. Kinda reminds me of what a Urotsukidoji platformer would look like for some reason.
