For the internal electronics, I just followed schematics at chadsarcade.co.uk (seems to be dead) and gamesx.com.

For the externals, it's all up to your own creativity.

It's not super detailed but covers a lot of the stuff in basics.

Hardest part is getting the right power supply, making sure the voltages are good, etc. After that you have to worry about video, which usually means either buying a JROK converter or a TV that takes RGB. Sound is easy if you just want to support JAMMA, just wire it up to an RCA jack. Wiring for NeoGeo controls is simple but can be very tedious.

A good tip is to just use a big project box to do it. You'll appreciate not having to work in a cramped box, and if you can fit your power supply internally, it'll be nicer to deal with.
