Summer London Minimeet (Date set!!! 19th/20th July)

Post by spadgy »

RGC's suggested I start this, so here we go...

The last meet was amazing, so we need another one soon.

We've already talked about August, though that's definitely not concrete.

DEL mentioned the next one being a minimeet , so maybe this will be London Meet 6.5 rather than VII, but that's no reason for it to be small!

And this time I'm not bunking off Sunday 'cause I stayed out too late Saturday!

Thoughts?

Ok, a minimeet can be done in the Summer. In fact meets can be held at Casino Arcade on Any Given Sunday, simply because its a working arcade. Plus the fact that its in Central London, so people can combine the meet with sightseeing, shopping, clubbing, cream teas, whatever...

This is about a London meet, right!?

Once we're talking an Amsterdam summit you can use this word more appropriately. ;)

Edit:- Alright back to reality. Ibara is enough for me for a Summer minimeet, even without Hookers. I doubt we'd be able to put any extra games in before the Summer though.
RGC is right that EspGaluda II received non-stop play during the last Meet. In fact two or three attendees went right out and bought the board afterwards.

I would of if I hadn't been silly with my money and saved none. It really got me into the first ESPgaluda though, which I hadn't given enough time too.

So what month shall we do for a minimeet? July? August?

Pros & Cons

I'm guessing July for a minimeet. Gives enough space for a larger Meet in the Winter with more new titles.[/b]

I'm around every week CHI, so let me know when that happens.

As for this proposed Minimeet - I only suggested it after discussion in the general Casino thread. If it jeopardises the proper London Meet VII, of course we can go without!

It would jeopardise anything spadgy. Super Laydock and I held a minimeet (5.5) in January and Meet VI went off very well after that.
So Meet 6.5 will go ahead, no problem.

Well done on initiating the mini-meet Spadgy, you know I'll be there, and buying you a couple of beers mate.

If anyone wants board donations, I have plenty to bring along - but I'm not sure who wants to play my boards... :(

Last time we couldn't house anything in the cabs and Battle Garegga was a waste of time.

Here's my list of boards I'm willing to donate:

Ibara
Mushime Tama (Not a shmup but a great novelty Cave game!)
Garegga
B.Bakraid
Dragon Blaze
Raiden Fighters 2
Raiden Fighters Jet
Parodius Da!
Guwange
Esp R.A.D.E
Area 88
Carrier Airwing
Radiant Silvergun

Let me know boys!

...is the best choice there :)

If we'll have Supergun and TV again I could probably bring my Mushi Futari board this time.

Thats the truth!

So Guwange and Radiant? Radiant's a bit slow, but I'd love to see someone destroy it.

You're far too nice to me, Skykid, but I don't mind :D

Guwange is my favourite shmup ever so I should be awesome at it but sadly I'm only ok. I'll put some practice in before the meet though....

Shall we pick a weekend in July then? I can do any really. Later in the month would be better.

How about 19/20th of July or the weekend after, the 26/27th?

Big surpise, I'll be in London that weekend (actually from 25th to 28th) for this thing:
http://www.battleofdestiny.com/

The tourney will distract me only for the whole day of sunday, so from friday afternoon to saturday I should be able to show up at the Casino :D
I was going to tell DEL about this so imagine my surprise when reading that you were planning something for the same weekend :P

Amazing - lets do it that weekend for sure then (any objections?). I'll add the date to the thread title to try and get some other people involved...
