TOM-STGT Week 4: Andro Dunos
So that's why I feel like Tippi Hedren in a playground every time I fire up MAME?Macaw wrote:THESE BIRDS OBSERVE THE TOURNAMENT IN SUSPENSE
Last week I was walking down the street, and at the moment I cursed how badly I was doing in the tournament, a seagull swept down and tried to peck my eye out...
Last boss is easy, the only attack that's dangerous are the rotating lasers. Here's how I handle him:
First attack, he shoots a rotating stream of bullets. Just mimic the boss his movements at the height of his eye, and you dodge everything since the bullets always have the same direction.
After that, he shoots rockets. Get close to him, at the same height as the rocket launcher, and just destroy them while shooting the boss.
After that he uses the first attack again, followed by the rotating lasers. I found the best strategy to hug the bottom/top of the screen during the lasers and hope to survive.
After that he charges forward, which is easy to dodge if you expect it.
Repeat until phase 2.
In phase 2 just keep yourself positioned in an almost straight line towards the boss. He always shoots in the same 32 or so directions, so it's easy to dodge if you stand above, below, or next to him (at some distance). He always charges at you every now and then.

Type III for the clumsy win!ED-057 wrote:What's the deal with type 2? It could at least be useful for destroying enemies behind you but it sucks even at that as the rate of fire is too slow. Its charged attack is also unimpressive.
By the way, I found a review of this game:

"When was the last time you saw a shooter force you from right to left?" I dunno genius, maybe in the second stage of this game. Short and crappy review, but most of us agree with it in spirit; the game is slow and doesn't seem to offer up a whole lot - at least not on the surface.
"Sadly, Andro Dunos is no different. The system may be more powerful, but the games aren't any more advanced. Even years later when Square released Einhander, you couldn't help but notice the lack of innovation since R Type and the Thunder Force series."
SHOOTERS HAVEN'T BEEN INNOVATIVE SINCE R-TYPE AND THUNDERFORCE
EVERYONE STOP PLAYING SHOOTERS THIS GENRE SUCKS

Pah - I've just come in from the snow (In London! It's been years since it settled like this here) and set this score with icy fingers... My first ever go at the game - maybe I'll get another in! Busy week for me... er... concentrating on Progear.
Spadgy - Stage 1-2 - 147,100
Rubbish!
On the high score table in this game 4 looks too much like a 9. Confusing me!
