I know it sounded a silly question - but I was gutted to submit my score too late last time! Thanks Ozymandiaz1260 and the winged one himself!

Macaw for week 4 can you pick a game that doesn't suck because I have time then.

Week 1 was a good game but unfortunately I didn't have time to play even one credit and I was more willing to play STALKER for my six hours of free time for the week.

Ooh.

Ok, I like this one. This is really nice.

Though Im not sure exactly where my hitbox is just yet..... I havent had too much time with the game yet, it's late here so I gotta be getting to bed soon....

In my opinion though, this has very interesting design. Nice looking too.

I'll do my best to get a good score up here this time.

Good choice on the game for this week, Macaw.

Question though, is this one perhaps part of a series? This is a game I'd never played before now, so I know absolutely nothing about it. If there's more like it though, I'd like to try them out too.

Helps that I've always been a fan of basically everything Taito has done, too :)

Whole darn ship is the hitbox, and it's HUGE.

I like the looks and feel of the game, but the whole scoring is frustrating and slightly retarded. You have to know exactly when and what is going to show up, which makes it very hard to get a nice run on in a week.

I'll be slacking this week too :D

There's Raystorm and Raycrisis as well. Haven't spent enough time with RC to judge it, but RS is good provided you can accept the angled overhead viewpoint. RC and RS both have PS1 ports (JP and US), and RS is on Taito Legends 2 (or one of them... I'm pretty sure it's TL2).

It's not. It's no Psyvariar 2 pixelbox, but it's not Raiden I's outline contact=death either.

I like the look and feel too. My wife, who was no doubt has been influenced by her love for Wing Commander saw me playing Rayfrce and said something along the lines of 'Amazing! That's how I expect space to look when I visit'.

Not sure when she's visiting space, or if she's taking me, but as compliments for the style of space-themed shmups go I think that's a pretty good one.

The said wife is out raving till 6am tonight, so I'm staying in and trying to get to grips with this game...

Taito had some of the most talented and creative artist's and directors, for sure.

People like Twiddle cant handle playing games with awesome graphics and atmosphere, and would rather play a game that involves mathematical problem solving.

Which is why you love Dooyong games and Radiant Silvergun.

If a game is shit, sorry, I'm just not going to play it no matter how good it looks. See: first person shooters.

prediction for fourth week shmup: Flying Tiger or R-Shark

I like this game, though; if there are more games like this and Mahou I have no problem.

Well - I'm out of time as I'm off for the Easter holiday - so here you go...

OTA (Spadgy) - 742,900 - Level 3

Strangley I got that on my first proper session. Since then I've got further, but scored considerably less. I understand the scoring as it's pretty simple, but making level 2 work regularly seems damn hard.

Out of interest, can any one get more than 64,300 points on the very first flurry of little ships and mother ships that opens level one?

EDIT: score formatting

Imhotep - Stage 3 - 914'200

I'm not very fond of the gameplay, but graphics and music are outstanding.

There's an obvious lineage from this to Border Down and Under Defeat.
