Hello,

I have 2 Pink Sweets PCB at home.
One is Master version 2006.04.06
The other is Master version 2006.05.18

Someone know what are the difference between these 2 versions ?
I know there was a bug on the first release. Maybe the most recent version is fixed, I don't know...

Thanks for listing the dates of those boards Bahamut, I will go and check which version we have in our local arcade. I had a situation where I thought I should have triggered the life bug (with 6 lives), but it didn't happen. Maybe I'm playing the revised board...

EDIT:- Would you sell the bug one :D :?:

Wasn't it confirmed that this isn't a "bug" as it's found in both the original and the revision?

I'm still not sure to be honest, I could have sworn I had 5 lives up top then picked up the 6th on Stage 5 and it just added up top and didn't wrap back down to 2 :? .

Well, yeah from what I've seen I actually do like the game.

Its just this whole thing with the infinite lives bug and the fact the world records are done using them is insane. Oh and also the fact that the scoring system is apparently broken and trying to medal without the lives bug is impossible.

Well, like I've mentioned to Plasmo before - the Japanese have no qualms whatsoever about exploiting bugs - they just do it :D .
Their abuse of autofire circuits is just one example.
A large proportion of Gemant's ARCADIA WR list is full of "INFINITE SCORE PROBLEM" - they just love it.
No ethics but who cares, get that Counter Stop!!

Actually, most Japanese players hated the infinite extend glitch in Pink Sweets. Granting invincibility pretty much removed all challenge (well, apart from the challenge of not crashing the game).

Wow! Can you please snap a pic of both boot up screens? Also can you test bombing the trees at the begining of level 1 and see if the flamingos fly out on both versions?

rtw will be very intereted in this.

The fixes are for game freezes. There is no comfirmation that a fix removes "multiply mode" (which is what the infinite lives bug is really called). :wink:

Which should tell you its not a bug. There is also a practice mode for this built into the game if you can access the settings menu.

Calling something "broken" and "impossible" when you don't understand the gameplay mechanics is understandable.

Maybe its just me, but counterstoping is different than a real PCB bug. Especially if it gets "fixed". Are there WR scores for the original ESPrade board with the real scoring bug?

True, they don't like it as the 1cc feels empty with infinate lives. But they also don't play it anymore because the high rank route scores are much higher than a low rank run without it. There are a few people still trying to break the high rank scores but like you said since the board keeps crashing most gave up.

Anyway, saying this removes all challenge is rather humorous, because thats exactly what Score Attack mode is about. If anything, it was stupid?wrong?interesting for Yagawa to try and combine both modes.

I thought about this a lot and came to the conclusion that you simply must be wrong if you DON'T play with autofire. It's NOT possible to activate 3 non fixed extends before the tower extend in stage 5.

pink sweets is fucking brutal. and the tricks to getting 15-20mill scores are one of the biggest mysteries amongst cave games (alongside how WTN can get 70mill on donpachi, and SWY getting 2.6bill on mushi maniac).

getting infinite lives on default settings is one thing, and scoring that many points is something else (nobody on this forum can even do the former yet)

and yes the gameplay systems are odd and unintuitive, but you could say that for a lot of yagawa games. i'm sure people were saying similar things about battle garegga back in 1996 ('what? dying makes the game easier? i should use my bombs?)

the stage 6 crashing bug only happens (to me at least) once in every 50 runs.

you also get infinite lives in score attack mode from the get go. can someone please make a video where they score 9 million points in this mode please :P

i've said it before, but my only qualm with this game is that it is too hard...

Of course one of my extends was the Stage 3 tanks triggered extend and the others were from type 3 bullets, but I lost my first life before the towers extend at the end of Stage 5. So I guess that's the reason.

In my version i CANT choose any type of ships.And my score attack mode doesnt have time counter oO. Dont know wich version i have but its unfair to play with it for ranking..

haha yeah.. I put the pcb for check and its write 2006/xx/xx Master Ver. :roll:

As i told you the different types of ship arent avaibles and the score attack do not have a time limitation. It's just a basic cloud stage :?

At time, just before i bought this (from fujita), a friend of mine buy it too and Yumi asked to him if he wants the revised version or something like that. I think she talked about this freaky version. Unfortunatly she didnt ask for me and i get this :cry:

so in score attack mode, do you have infinite lives?
were any scores already on the high score table when you purchased it?
and if you could try changing the dipswitch settings to 1 mill per Extend, get the 1-up from the tank in the middle of stage 3 and score 3+ million points, and see if you obtain infinite lives

- no infinite lives in score attack, just as if i launch the game directly at Cloud. After the boss the game is over.

-I bought brand new pcb so no high score.

- i can get the 1up from the tank ( i did it ) in the middle of stage 3.
I will check tomorrow for changinh dipswitch to 1m per extend adn see for the infinite lives.

Wow! This is amazing, thinking we may have all the versions of pink sweets, including a loke test PCB (which is what I would assume a 2006/xx/xx date is).

Thank you Radegou, I hope you will help us discover what other oddities are in your board so we can see the development progression in Yagawa's twisted mind!

Oh, one other test, try bombing the trees in the first level to see if the flamingos are present. Maybe this would explain the very early comments of a version of the board floating around without the infinte lives in score attack and normal game! This could add much validity to the multiply mode being intentional.

Thanks to remind this. As a garegga fan one of the first thing i did when i get the pcb is to try the flamingoes...and it didnt work. Maybe its a loke-test? I didnt think about this possibility..

I'm going to go out on a limb and say a true loke test version wouldn't say "master version". I've never seen one boot though.

LOL! AMI would never sell a loke test version. It's just a later revision of the game. Note also there are two revisions of the Mushi 1 PCB (one dot and two dot revisions). So this is something Cave has done before.

I'll have to investigate, but I'd bet the 2008/5 revision just fixes the Stage 6 bug, while the xx version changes the game (removing the multiply mode, changing score attack, possibly reducing the severity of the rank to compensate, etc). MleJazz talked about having such a board months ago as well, by the way. I've also read about this on 2ch.

It's also very possible the xx version was made in 2007, hence the lack of a date/month in the MASTER VER.
