Futurama R-TYPE

Post by Dylan1CC »

Via IGNpsp and www.atlus.com/r-type

Professor Farnsworth: "Good news, everyone! The media localization planet of Atlus has decided to hire Planet Express to fly a shipment of R-TYPE Command UMDs to them! We just need to get them there before May 6."

Bender: "This better not be like that time we almost burned up in the atmosphere trying to deliver that tentacle fairy thing for Hamster Co. to the Planet E-Square." Bender turns away from the table and opens his chestplate revealing a bunch of stolen R-TYPE Command import promo toys.

Fry: "We had an R-TYPE machine at Pinucchi's pizza. It was the only thing that got me through my S.AT.s" 80s Flashback of Fry hammering away at the game on his S.A.T. night when a young Dave Foley taps him on the shoulder and says "Hey buddy, I put my quarter up an hour ago!"

Hermes: "Plundering Pirates of the Caribbean, Professor! The only known route to the Planet Atlus goes right through the Bydo death fetus galaxy!"

Leela: "That's ok, we'll bring Nibbler, his people fought the death fetuses many years ago."

Flashback shows the Nibblonian fleet with Nibbler pilots spinning force-style on the cones of their fighters, eating through various Bydo creatures.

Prof. Farnsworth: "Even so, I've created a sophisticated strategy algorithim which we will use to get around the bydo." quick shot of Farnsworth gluing a Military Madness and an R-TYPE hucard together and shoving them into his computer

ha That's all I got. Too much time on my hands so thought I'd have some fun with the announcement. :P

The game title was changed? We really are back to the 1980's!

I clicked on this thinking it would be a novelty flash game of some sort.

How exactly does this play? Anything like the arcade versions?

Too bad IREM couldn't have started with a multi-game compilation product like Konami did featuring:

R-Type
R-Type 2
R-Type Leo
X-Multiply
In The Hunt

I'll buy that for a dollar!

I'd snatch this up in a heartbeat if it was on the DS.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

D'oh, that's what I get for acting like a noob and not doing a search.
Funny story, though :)
Thanks. :P Did anyone get the inside joke to a certain very arcade centered ep of Newsradio?

Second what Dragon'52 said about a comp. It's also a shame there's no unlockable game on Command.
