Anyone playing Gunbird 2 these days?

Post by professor ganson »

There is a fair number of newbies around here, and I just want to know which are cool. So do you play Gunbird 2?

Yoink, moved.

I am playing Gunbird 2. Bloody hard though! I am normally Aine cos he has that nifty double close range attack.

I don't know if I'm still a newbie ?
I'm playing it from time to time, but always end up dying at the beginning of stage 5 (not 4, sorry, edited my post). This is probably isn't going to change unless I spend far more time on the game ;)
Also, I can't be consistent with the scoring, always end up messing up with coins, even on the first stage which I know by heart.

Sometimes when I get frustrated with Dodonpachi, but still feel like playing shooters, I'll pop in Dragon Blaze or Gunbird 2.

I play it every once in a while, get pissed off at it, and forget about it again.

Definitely not my favorite Psikyo game

I was playing it pretty consistently recently but took a break the past couple weeks. I'll try to get back into it to see if I can beat it but the game starts to wear on my nerves in later levels.

The game seems to be getting a lot of shit on these forums lately but I think it's great.

I've put some time into it and will continue to as i enjoy it quite a bit. I feel like i've put 20 hrs into GB2, and yet MAME32+ says 6 hrs... Hmm every time i look to see how many hours i've put into a game it seems much lower than actual. Either it's counting wrong or i'm vastly overestimating my playtime.

BTW i need some competition for the bottom spots of the high score table now that it's been extended past a Top 10! Chop chop.

The last time I played it was at the Bay Area meet back in June? 07. I plan on buying the PCB eventually, and I'll get back to it then.

Funny you should say that, cos I have been playing a lot of Dodonpachi, but whenever I get too frustrated I plug in the Dreamcast for a bit of Gunbird 2 or Gigawing.

Funny thing is, I always seem to beat my top score on Dodonpachi after a couple of hours break playing other shmups.

I've had it for ages without really touching in (The Pal PS2 GB doublepack).

Should I give it some of my time?

EDIT: spelling

this past weekend i setup a dedicaded TATE monitor. i thought it looked so cool that i wanted to leave a game running in demo mode on it, that way every time i walked in the room, i would be like "ohhh yeah baby, i can play verts anytime i want now without rotating my monitor all the time".... so i left strikers 1945 ii on all night and now my playcount is like 17 hours although i've only put about 3 into it

hehe

also, i'll work on a shit-ass gb2 score for your top 25 tonight :)

Hmmm... The general lack of enthusiasm among newcomers has me worried that GB 2 will slip pretty far in the upcoming top 25 polling. Last year we lost Strikers II and R-Type. And for what? Under Defeat? Absurd. I'm not optimistic. Too many voters with too little experience.

Are you in effect implying that we started playing shmups on the day we joined the forum?

Of course not. Why would you come to this forum unless you play shmups? I'm just being a bitter old man.

Talking 'bout me? I remember playing Twinbee and then getting completely slammed at work-- one of my most challenging semesters, in fact. But every Fall is super hard, so I'm thinking about dropping stgt from now on. Not without regret, of course.
