name of an 80s (maybe early 90s) shmup

in the late 80s/early 90s i remember playing this vertical shmup... im trying to track it down but i have no idea wat it was called. i remember once the demo screen comes up theres a cutscene showing alien ships destroying a whole bunch of human fighters leaving only two intact, the p1 and p2 ships. i also remember the first level boss being a huge red multi-screen alien spaceship. if anyone knows what im talking about and knows the name id appreciate the info.
