Someone hasn't been paying attention. JFDuke hasn't been touched in ages, it's all about Eduke32 these days. It plays the original game perfectly, supports mp3, models, new modding options (as well as running every mod ever made for the original game quite well), and now Shader Model 3.0 effects (in beta right now so it's not quite stable just yet). It's flat out awesome.Ed Oscuro wrote:the duke nukem thing is run by a freeware port of the original game.
I'm still waiting for a good non-glitching, non-crashing port of the original, myself. Jonof's Duke 3D is neither yet, and last time I checked it had been years since it was updated

Had been playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and it was fun, until...
"Hey, team, this mission's success depends on me keeping you guys alive. Is there any way I can convince you to STAY SOMEWHERE SAFE AND NOT RUN AROUND LIKE IDIOTS WHILE I TRY TO KILL THE GODDAMN NAZI SNIPERS?!"
Seriously... ¬¬

I remember getting to that part. I never played it again.Stormwatch wrote:Had been playing Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, and it was fun, until...

Been playing L4D on PC quite a lot clocked up around 67 hrs lol last 2 weeks, new content came out and yes the melee limiter was already implemented in the PC version in VS mode I think it only got introduced into the 360 version with the update, also the last stand mode is fun as hell!
taking on 3 tanks at the same time is madness! couple that with like 4 smokers and hunters and boomers....its pure carnage!
definantly one of the best multi games ive ever played and believe me ive played most, its just a shame they couldnt fix the voting system and add another weapon.

Where could I E-mail or mail to if I want to address my ideas and Opinions?
get some thumpers in there
I'm kind of considering buying Zeno Clash...I dunno, seems better than Dark Messiah M&M was, maybe prettier but without the epic architecture, but should have more variety. Sounds short though.

The Specialists was fucking excellent. After I backflip 3 guys in a row and got 15 frags for that, I never came back.Ed Oscuro wrote:Never liked it much but my brother played it for a while. It sure had potential though! That and Action Half-Life, which I guess is the "original" specialists, or something.John845 wrote:For over 5 years I played a mod for Half-Life called The Specialists. Brilliant game for its time.
I liked The Opera, a mod which died a loong while ago. It was basically the same game except with some glitchy offline stuff. I loved Mook Arcade maps
Just played my first versus match of Left 4 Dead and died horribly. I've never been any good at FPS... it's a lot of fun, though, that's for sure.
That aside I also just completed Dead Space. I guess it's third-person strictly speaking but really, close enough. It can be quite hard on the higher difficulties and there are one or two
good ways to die. Probably not as many as in RE4, though.

I just rented Quantum of Solace...mostly because I had a free rental at Blockbuster.
As it turns out, it's about as compelling as I thought it would be. Not very. It's "OK" but highlights why I hate cover systems. They're fine when you're dealing with squares, but odd shapes play hell with that mechanic. I have yet to try MP, but word is that it's a cheap imitation of COD4. Feckin Treyarch.

Sort of speaking of Medal of Honor games, I was playing the original Medal of Honor a few days ago, it seems pretty dated now I guess but its still really good. I remember it causing quite a stir when it first came out. Something deep inside me tells me I shouldn't like Medal of Honor games but I just can't help myself. Is it just me?

I read the guys who made the earlier MoH games are the same guys who make the CoD games.Vokatse wrote:The Medal of Honor series used to be really good. However, now it got worse and the Call of Duty series just got more popular...probably because it's better.
However, some of the earlier MoH games are pretty good.

Oh man, I remember that game... The Specialists was so good, I was in a clan for a while... Got pretty into it.Shatterhand wrote:The Specialists was fucking excellent. This was a stunt/tricking movie I made with another player called entik on TS 2.1, almost 3 years ago. If you played the game you'd realize how difficult the tricks are to pull off.
No one here ever played Natural Selection? For shame.
It's a mod for Half-Life. In one side you have the aliens, who evolve and get new abilities and forms, and on the other side you have the marines.
The best part about this mod was the marine commander. He had a bird's eye view of the whole map, could construct buildings and give orders to the other players. Basically the commander plays a RTS, while everyone else plays a FPS. When someone who really knew how to play a commander showed up, the matches became truly epic. Having 10+ players working together as a team is something you don't see anywhere else.

Quantum of Solace continues to grow on me. Deathmatch/Team Deathmatch is bog standard, but Golden Gun mode kicks all sorts of ass. I have two issues with it, however:
1.) Half the players are apparently just there for kills. As such, only 3-4 people actually go for the gun.
2.) It's rather easy to lock down an area by camping in a corner. They'll eventually chuck grenades at you, but not before 5-6 of them die.

I'll be checking that out, then, Damocles.
I tried out the demo of Zeno Clash, eh, lots of good stuff in there but the combat system ain't quite for me. Lots of crazy art in there though. Almost wish for the next Elder Scrolls game to be set in that place instead ;)
On Left 4 Dead - people in the Forum are gonna have to get together sometime for Survival. I've yet to play it though.
