NFL Blitz 2001 is the only arcade sports game that matters to me.
Baseball Stars and Super Baseball are good as well.

Correct.Windjammers
Did you know about the doujin game Crazy Power Disc?

Baseball Stars 2 and Neo Turf Masters are the only ones I play with any frequency. NBA Jam is still a good game, though, and Speedball 2 would have made an awesome arcade game.
Cosmic Smash is sweet too, but I'm not sure if it can really be considered a sports game...

We here shall not rest until we have made a drawing-room of your shaft, and if you do not all finally go down to your doom in patent-leather shoes, then you shall not go at all.

Those games aren't even arcade-style.

2 On 2 Open Ice Challenge from Midway, a hockey game that today still remains fun to play.

They have one of these at the pub near work - I could never understand why people want to play it.Sonic R wrote:Horseracing:

I LOVE this game! Brought to you by Sega/Hitmaker.

SiKrAiKeN: While I don't think everyone here -is- a Ninja Turtle, I DO believe everyone here has the potential to be a Ninja Turtle. No doubt.
Ugh. I have just *the worst* memories of this game, not because the game is necessarily bad in and of itself, but because of the way it happened to come into my life at the local arcade.ARCADIA wrote:U.S. Championship V'Ball
This particular arcade hardly *ever* got new machines in, and when I say that, I mean that V'Ball was the only new machine at this arcade for at *least* two solid years. Not only that, but it was placed in a former Gauntlet cabinet, providing for the most crowded experience ever, coupled with what *had* to be the worst joysticks and buttons ever conceived for any machine, ever.
Not that any of those are the game's fault, but oh man...I just can't separate the two of them, *and* the fact that this machine was the "new" game during years when so many, many great games could have been making the arcade so much more money. Games that I'd read about, but never be able to play.
Here are some I liked:
Punch Out (different from NES)
Super Punch Out (ditto)
Vs. Duck Hunt (similar to NES, but has some features not in NES like a bonus round. Do hunting and skeet shooting count?)
Pigskin (are points lost for sports games that take place in the past?
)
High Impact
Super High Impact
Hyper Sports
Cyberball
Non-serious:
Tapper-Based on the popular sport of serving beer.
Pong

Maybe not, but some of EA games did have arcade versions, oddly enough. I'm not sure if Madden is one of them, but I know for sure that there is a PGA Tour Golf machine. They appear mostly in sports bars.JoshF wrote:Those games aren't even arcade-style.
Was reading through this looking for possible games to get for my cab and I gotta say, Heavy Smash is pretty swell.

Tecmo World Soccer `96 is awesome.
Absolutely excellent soccer game for the 'Geo.

Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.
It wasn't actually released in the arcade, but NHL Hitz was a pretty awesome game.
