Casino Crew Monthly Meet #01

Date: Saturday 26th July
Time: 3PM - Late
Venue: The HoG (AKA The Heart of Gaming)
Website & Map: http://www.theheartofgaming.com
Nearest Tube Station: North Acton

It's been a long time coming, but regular Casino Crew meets are back! Come down to The HoG on the last Saturday of each month for an epic gaming session: shmups, fighters, racers, rhythm games, light-gun games... the works! Entry is £10, then you can stay until closing and all the machines are on free play.

It would be great to have as many of the Crew (and guests too) as possible for the first of our new monthly meets - let's make it a big one!

Actually, does anyone know if there's an arcade in Leeds at all? Seems possible.

I'd like to go but I've a ton of work to get done. Might be able to make it down for a couple of hours in the evening. Will people be bringing games?

I'm in London for the day and was planning to pop along later. Probably won't have met any of you guys before (unless there's anyone going that went to Stunfest) so if you see a guy with a black rucksack/glasses/short hair wondering around please say hello.

Hope you can make it Geist! I'm not sure if The HoG have Muchi Muchi Pork, but they do have some 360 setups, so if someone brings it you can definitely play it. Illyrian, are you taking any porky goodness with you?

To make it easy for anyone new to find the other shmuppers, I'm bringing a messenger bag with a big sign saying "Casino Crew" taped to it: that'll be with me all day, so come and say hi if you see that and I can introduce you to the rest of the Casino Crew!

So most of HoG's vert shmups were lent to Hyper Japan on saturday, bit of a shame.
Mark's asked us to give him some advance warning next time we show up, I'll volunteer to do that.

Twinkle Star Sprites is pretty cool, I enjoyed using my shmup skillzz to challenge and destroy anyone i saw playing.. except for JDE.

We had a pretty good turnout on Saturday with myself, Illyrian, Blinge, Rupert H and Nuskool - good to meet you dude! As Blinge said, a lot of the verts were being loaned to Hyper Japan which is a bit of a shame, but The HoG's owner Mark Starkey said that if we let him know when the next big meet is, he can make sure that there's a good selection of shmups for us when we arrive: the more of us that show up, the more we'll get.

Spadgy, could you please update the OP to say that the Casino Crew now have a regular Monthly Meet at The HoG, on the last Saturday of each month?

I will probably be gone on the last Saturday of this month (the 30th) :| I might drop by on the 23th if anybody will be around, but it looks like pretty awful timing.

Went to da HoG after SVB, the right side flooded the day after SVB so Simeon and Starkey weren't too happy. Played some Border Down. Went to Las Vegas arcade again and saw Gunbird and Raiden II and a tall guy named Toby who seems to be trying hard to make the downstairs work.
