Darkcomet72 - 8,598,810 - 1-4 - B Nail.

Wow. I started using Nail because I thought everyone was using Rivet...

Better start learning A-Chain!

snap monkey - 8,385,790 - 1-5 - Bolt/Rivet (split) - US version(MAME)

Wow, I'm having a lot of fun with this game. Made it to the 5th level, but from what I've seen of the final stretch it'll be a while before I clear the game, if ever.

I'm also trying the split gunner formation (hit A and B simultaneously while selecting your gunner). I think it complements the narrow Bolt shot nicely by making it a bit wider, though I can't really say how it affects gem collection. Neat little secret though.

Bah, why not:

BulletMagnet - 3,420,300 - 1-3 - Bolt/Nail

Starting to get the hang of the scoring a little bit, still working on it though...

Sorry, forgot that. Japan, but wasn't it stated awhile back that the actual default difficulty on both is equal, at least when playing in MAME, anyways? I've played both versions and haven't noticed much of a difference, if any, challenge-wise...

do you mean he used save states for practice or in the hi-score run? if it's the latter isn't there a rule against that? it seems obvious to me there should be one.

I'm not sure which he meant, but I often use save states to practice, I never use it in a high score run. I don't watch replays either (except my own).

For some reason I remember it being said that the difficulty levels in the US and Japan versions were somehow different, and that the settings were in actuality the same...maybe I'm wrong.

Also, not like it's a big deal, but I think that the gunner for my high score was actually Chain (whichever one shoots straight ahead), I always get the names mixed up.

I meant to practice with. I'm playing this on PCB so I don't have the luxury.
