Armed Police Batrider Taiwan ROM Ver. ???

Post by CIT »

Does anybody know anything about the Taiwanese version of APB? Is it an original? How does it compare to the other versions? I hear it's completely in English. I have an offer for this, not sure whether I should go for it, so any info is appreciated.

Yeah, a "Taiwan version" isn't listed or emulated anywhere, but I don't think that necessarily means it's a bootleg. Asian version arcade games are just not very well documented in general.

Could somebody perhaps post a pic of an APB PCB that I could use to compare? (EDIT: ne'ermind, got one 'ere: http://www.arcade-system.com/images/arc ... trider.jpg )

Okay, thx!

Yeah, obviously we have lots of reason to be suspicious. Do you think if the PCB looks the same it's safe to say it's not a bootleg?

If you put the picture here, for sure there are members who can say it's original or not.

Gern geschehen... :D

Looks legit to me...maybe some screens of the game can help.
Is the owner sure that it is not a Korean Version of the game?

Yeah, he says the in-game text is completely in English.

Unfortunately he can't provide screens cuz his cab is out of service atm.

I kinda know the seller though and have dealt with him before, so I think he would refund if it's a no-good PCB. Should I go for it?

theone that says toaplan should actually have the 8ing logo on it if im not mistaken... ill check when i get home :)

the PCB itself looks good tho with raizing/8ing imprints and all..

Go for it if the price is right, it is legit.
And have it dumped afterwards.

Yeah, the Toaplan chip is weird, it's a known fact though that Raizing continued the Toaplan hardware architecture.

This one says Toaplan on the chip as well: http://www.arcade-system.com/images/arc ... trider.jpg

Maybe you could still check out yours though. :)

I'm thinking I'll get this board, I'm also just really curious what this ROM version entails. O_o How can I dump a ROM, or who here can do it?

A few years back, big $$$ offered for Taiwan Batrider PCB

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

A few years back, another fellow shmupper asked about the existence of such a "fabled" Taiwan Rom version of Batrider PCB with all-English text for the Main Title Screen, Selection Menu Screen & ending stories for all the diverse and eccentric cast of Raizing/8ing designed characters of lore... ^_~

He or she was willing to pay some serious $$$ for such an "all-English text" Batrider PCB (and even posted such a "WTB Taiwan version Batrider PCB" ad in the Trading Section) but the source who had such a PCB in stock mysteriously vanished, leaving another "dead-end" for such a valuable legendary shmup PCB...and just how many Taiwan Batrider PCBs were actually produced? Or was it a Rom version hack to begin with?

There was some speculation as to whether or not it was a genuine Batrider PCB from the "get-go"...or just some wild internet rumors going around taking a novel twist in developements of sighting such an elusive PCB as that one..... ^_~

The Korean version of Batrider has the essential all-English text endings but the Selection Menu Screen is in Korean writing text (and not in English)...+ the cheats are already enabled from the "get-go" (different from the orginal JPN 'version B' of Batrider PCB, of course)...

The fellow shmupper by the name of rtw could possibly do such a "rom dump" of this holy grail of Batrider PCB, right rtw? ^_~

I actually made my post without realizing PC Engine Fan X! had answered as well, so in retrospect it looks a bit pushy :?

My experience with chip in buying is that things become a little stressed.

IMHO it's better for an individual to buy the item for himself and
then arrange for the ROM's to be dumped at a later stage.

When it comes to the actual dumping I have no trouble paying for the postage.
