Eastenders Arcade

Post by MX7 »

Well, I just watched Eastenders, possibly for the first time the whole way through. And while the plot bored the hell out of me, I couldn't help but notice there was a rather odd arcade game on the backround in the cafe. I can't figure out for the life of me what the game is. All I saw was a static attract screen with a purple haired anime woman holding a fish head on a platter. Yup. Me and my girlfriend racked our brains, as our housemates got pissed off at us being so nerdy. If any Eastenders watching forum members could tell me what it is, i'd be forever in your debt

This is the best photo I could get of it. I have no idea what game it is though :?

The plot thickens. How bizzarre! looks pretty hardcore for Eastenders...

Super-Dimensional Fortress Macross. I'd recognise that shot anywhere.

Yeah, that's bloody amazing for a depressing-as-all-fuckery programme like Eastenders.

I thought the acting was pretty good; they actually showed it (maybe they still do) on Public TV, here in the US. Considering how stupid TV has gotten over here, it's a good thing they show British programs.

Aye, a lot of people say it's more realistic than US soaps, but I can't watch anything like that anyway. :p

Ha! I spotted Macross running on the Eastenders cab just yesterday, and eagerly rushed to here to place a witty post, and you're all months ahead of me!

While I'm very impressed by Ian Beales choice of game for his humble cafe, he could get round to changing the PCB. I wonder who's got the high-score? Darren's pretty good at dodging trouble...

Actually; Eastenders would make a good shmup - Peggy and Pat and Dot and bosses!

i've been wondering what that machine is for like a year and a bit. first i noticed the machine was a shmup (it used to be super sidekicks)so i always kept an eye on it .. the furthest i ever got to identifying it was seeing the banpresto logo.

then it dissapeared for ages (i think they moved it) only to reappear last week .. at least i dont have to wonder what it is anymore.
thanks!!

To be honest, if it turns out Beale is into shmups I'm burning my entire collection, as that frog-eyed dickwad is about my least favourite (fictional) person ever....

However, if he's just letting Dot install her boards then fair play to him. Bet he keeps all the cash though. Probably charges £2 a credit too...

I am talking about that. I read Viz alot - what can I say?

Also - is that hi-score column really from that cabinet in the cafe? Surely not? Surely you haven't actually managed to copy it down?

I must be dumb to believe it, but I want to believe it! It would mean there's a witty shmuper working on Eastenders. My neighbors wife used to write for that show. I'm gonna see if I can chase this one up!

I'm late posting this, because I totally forgot at the time, but...

Ian's café burned down right? And then he built a new fancy coffee shop in its place.

Now, this may have changed in the last couple of weeks as my wife's been away and thus Eastenders hasn't been on, but...

He still has Macross in the cab, even though the café got totally destroyed. That mean's one of two things:

1) The boring reason - It's a continuity error on the part of the show's producers.
2) The reason I choose to go with - Ian Beale replaced the PCB, the original having been destroyed in the fire, which must mean he really loves Macross and shmups, and to get a second PCB he must be really into the scene and trading stations. So... Beale must be a massive shooter fan and thus Ian Beale must be a member of this very forum!

I reckon it's RGC. They are very similar :D

Lol this is funny. Shame on you twats for actually watching Eastenders at all though, there are many other things you could be doing other than watching that drivel - like bettering your shmup scores! :D

Still, must say I'm impressed in this day and age that Macross is in the program (old Vic pub is it?). By rights it should be a Chris Tarrant Who Wants to be a Millionare theft machine instead.

It's not me I promise. It's the wife. I just see it over my shoulder as I potter about the house while she gasps and recoils as she watches...
