Few ?'s about this new Cave arcade shmup PCB title...

Post by PC Engine Fan X! »

1.) Will this newly announced Cave arcade shmup PCB title, Tenshi No Juusha, be released on new smaller PCB hardware or the standard SH-3 based PCB setup?

2.) And does AMI handle the actual production of the Cave PCBs themselves? (I do recall that Atlus handled production some of the earlier produced Cave PCBs titles such as Donpachi, ESP.ra.de, etc.)..... ^_~

3.) And does not Cave do actual PCB production themselves but through agreement with 3rd-party Japanese arcade PCB manufacturer?

1)No one knows yet.
2)Yes.
3)Isn't this the same question as #2, but worded differently?

Until somewhat recently, Cave has not had a marketing department... at all. Now, it only handles small print runs of CDs, DVDs, toys, etc. In theory, that could even be a third party, working under the Cave umbrella, but the production numbers hint otherwise.

Well, I nabbed this from Danmakugata.

According to Mihara, a post on Mixi (which you can't view w/o an account) says that Cave's upcoming game has the working title Death Lolita, and that they are looking at hiring some people for Cosplay.

Is Cave really reduced to that kind of pandering to survive as a company? I'm open to artistic freedom but you can only take so many teenage girls in your shooting games.
I couldn't agree more.
Of course, that's just an opinion.

Too bad it won't get a console port, thanks to Cave being douchebags nowadays. :(

Not sure if anyone saw this particular nugget on IC, but apparently the rumor is that the game is going to be sort of a horizontal take on Guwange (with options)...who was it from Cave who, in some interview or other, said that they sort of figured that their "style" didn't work as well in a hori after they finished with Progear?

Yes, Ikeda said the style of Progear (maniac hori) didn't work well and they wouldn't try that again. But a hori Guwange style game is not the same as a Progear style game.

Still a pretty odd design choice, if it is true. Also makes you wonder if they're using new hardware for this one. I'd like to think that if it is a hori, the odds of a port would be greater. But perhaps that's just wishful thinking.

It was in that French shmups documentary, can't remember who said it, Mihara or one of the other bigwigs. I'd be seriously surprised if Death Lolita will be a true hori. Much more likely to to be a Guwange style 'up-down-left-scroller-but-always-shooting-up-so-basically-vert-with-nobs-on" shooter, imo.

It was Ikeda who said it. And by the way, Mihara doesn't work for Cave, he works for Arika.

They said the Progear project was a learning project on all fronts (CPS2 hardware, and horizontal gameplay). It wasn't just with that though. Ikeda has said on many occasions that horizontal & vertical are like night & day. He's never seemed to warm up to horizontal gameplay though, so I'm wondering what the fuck has possessed him in this case.

This nugget was apparently taken from the Mixi blog that nobody could read as it required a Mixi account (something I've since gotten, but hadn't read yet).

A walking like guwange yet hori-vert (RS/Gigawing) orientation might not work out so bad. Maybe that's what it is.

He always said he'd return to the game world when his manga was over. I assume it is, but haven't been keeping up.

I'd cream my pants if we ended up with a psuedo guwange sequel.

LET IT BE!

I like where this theme is going. Death, demons, and the undead as enemies, please.

If the game is really called "Death Lolita", then I will want a port badly...

... it would be awesome when my friends look at my games collection, frown at games titled "Mushihime-Sama" "Radirgy Precious" "Espgaluda 2".. and suddenly they open a huge smile.. "DEATH LOLITA" ....

You never struck me as being a gothloli fan, bloodf.
Then again, you had Suigintou (or a character that looks like her) as your desktop a while back, so I guess it makes sense.

Their not all that hot/cute. There are way hornier looking girls dressing more normal, albeit sluttier around town.

You know, I ran the goth club where I live for a few years, and did one of the regular DJ slots. Do the maths, this makes gothlolis about the hottest possible thing in the world.
