Well im sorry and surprised to say that your skills must be a joke if you cant even loop a 17yr old shump title. esspecially with the knowledge and experience you have acquired from playing todays techincally demanding shumps titles.PlasmaBlooD wrote:sorry ,but your character is a joke too !!this game is not good enough for me to play weeks or month.I played 4 hours. And not everbody plays so good as you !let so shit comments and stay out !!just let the people their fun!!!Mills wrote:This highscore/thread is a joke! it should be littered with 1-8 scores up to multiple looped scores, esspecially for a game that literally 20years old.

Mills has a point, this game is certainly loopable. Now that I have a joystick I may have to do it myself.
I think most people on this board just prefer Latest Import-Only Loli Shmup over old games like this.

SWY: Games are just for fun
If you ask me, that's what it's all about. I find it easier to succeed in games I enjoy more. That might be the key factor at play in this thread, in fact (assuming that people do in fact prefer the newer games). The simpler projectile patterns are countered by the larger hitbox, so that factor may be more or less nullified. Plus, it may not be reasonable to assume everyone posting has been playing this game since it came out.unsane wrote:Mills wrote:This highscore/thread is a joke! it should be littered with 1-8 scores up to multiple looped scores, esspecially for a game that literally 20years old.
Feel free to post yours. I'm not surprised there's so few scores, this game is a bitch - most ppl here don't seem to like it at all. I love it because i spent all my teenage years playing the Raiden series - it's my bread and butter. It was my shmup introduction.
Now I'm all for having fun and not caring, but this is just hilarious.Mills wrote:Well im sorry and surprised to say that your skills must be a joke if you cant even loop a 17yr old shump title. esspecially with the knowledge and experience you have acquired from playing todays techincally demanding shumps titles.
Raiden Trad is its own game it seems.

scores updated... got 686,080 on pcb! http://www.t-mobilepictures.com/photos/ ... ss9uu9k903
You know, I find them to be completely different games altogether. For example, in Raiden Project, those first green aircraft can be point blanked with guaranteed success, using subweapon M, no matter what the difficulty setting; but in MAME, using subweapon M, you will need evasive action unless the subweapon is timed just right.kemical wrote:bump...
I tried Raiden Project to see how it compared to the arcade version of Raiden, the difficulty is different to what I assumed... Playing on Colonel is easier than the arcade defaults, and playing on General the bullets go slightly faster than the arcade defaults.

I was noticing the same thing, I pulled the jamma/mame scores out into their own category, most people here are playing that version instead of a harder difficulty PS1 version.
If there are any problems with Major = normal, and Colonel = Hard, let me know. (maybe we need a General difficulty one also)

Milkgoat - 1,067,720 - 1-6 (PS1 Colonel)
I have no idea what was up with me yesterday. Usually when I play this game, I can't even make it past the third level in 1 credit. Yet I was kicking ass until those fucking asshat planes that come up from behind at stage 6. Maybe it was the fact that I drank a whole pot of coffee.
Also, does that player 2 no rank increase work on the PS1 version of the game?

Is there any chance of Raiden Densetsu for FM Towns getting a board?
It seems to be a straight port of the arcade game, with fake tate (bordered).
I haven't played it much because I haven't been able to find my good controller for the X68000 to try it on the Marty (and the bundled-in Car Marty wired remote thing is hilarious to try using).

I guess by Turbo Raiden you mean the PCE/TG16 card version of Raiden? Gameplay-wise, Super Raiden gets a couple of extra levels and bosses at the end that are exclusive to it. Cosmetically, it has redbook CD audio music instead of the PCE chiptunes.lgb wrote:What are the differences between Turbo Raiden and Super Raiden, if any?
