Bitchforced my tv into RGB mode

Post by D »

My PAL Saturn doesn't give out enough juice on pin 16 anymore.
Pin 16 has to provide over 1 volt to put a tv into RGB mode.
So now I just put a penlite battery as power source onto pin 16.
the + connects to pin 16 and the minus goes to the main ground surrounding shielding of the scart plug (pin 21)
Now it's RGB again. played Galaxy Force II again and boy is it great.
So this is a solution for those who have the same problem.
This is for SCART RGB tellies. I'm perhaps the only one who has this problem. But if someone ever has the same problem this thread can be resurrected.

I have the same problem with my NTSC-J Saturn.
I have actually tried connecting a battery before, though it didn't help.
Maybe I should try again seeing as you have got it to work, maybe the battery I used was too weak.

Yeah, I used a brand spanking new battery. Be sure to disconnect or else the battery will run empty. I wonder how long it will last though. I also have the same problem with my JP sat, but sometimes it will start in normal video mode and after a while turn to RGB mode. good luck. You have to check that no power goes to pin 8 from pin 16.
Pin 8 is useless anyway. I think it is safe to cut the wire between 8 and 16.
Great that i could be helping someone in the same situation. If it does not work let me know. leave details and we'll get to the bottom of it.
