Astro City vs. NEW Astro City? What's the difference?

Post by greg »

What are the main differences with a New Astro City? Stereo sound? Better screen resolution? Or is there really no difference other than the name?

Burn in is your main concern, if you get a "new" astro city your less likely to get burn in on the monitor.

The origonal astro has been around a few years longer. I would personally stay away unless you like the cosmetics of the older one better. Which has weaker speakers I believe.

Get the newest brand of cab you can find imo.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

I've never owned an original Astro City, but its supposed to have a 15khz only monitor (unlike the Dual Nano of the New Astro City), I believe it also does not have a degauss feature (although I'm sure plenty were upgraded along with the monitors since they are so interchangable with the New Astros). Other than that, just the obvious speaker pod difference.

BTW: Astro City 2 is newer than the New Astro City. :D
