Umm... the point wasn't about trying to find meaning in drums but rather to motivate oneself to keep improving your skills which can be seen as a parallel to working on a score in a single shmup for an extended period of time. If you've done both, you'll find that it requires a similar attitude and you'll be going through similar mental phases.

Too many people these days think they should be able to master things instantly though, sadly. So that really would be insightful for many people.
I suppose something else one could take from Pestro's post is that mastering something, whether it be for entertainment, work, or enlightenment, can be frustrating (potentially, depending on your disposition), but it can also be extremely rewarding, satisfying, and enjoyable.

But I believe that more often than not, when someone says "a pedophile isn't a monster," they're trying to draw attention to a crucial distinction. The term "pedophile" indicates want/desire. The term "child molester" indicates someone who has done something. This distinction is useful because it makes communication more clear, and draws attention to what the crime actually is, and what we should be trying to prevent. We should condemn child molesters, and discourage and prevent pedophiles from becoming child molesters. If someone is a pedophile who has never molested a child, then we would want to keep it that way. But if we say that they're hideous monsters either way, we're not exactly helping the situation because all we're doing is spreading hatred and vitriol, which have a way of not being useful.
Having said that, one of the most prevalent human tendencies is to interpret complex ideas in the dumbest way possible. So what do you make of this idea?
