Yeah I didn't catch the dubstep either. My ears would have jumped from my head, run across the room and engaged in a skydiving spectacle from the window.
Gotta agree with you guys. These short tempo slowdown moments have always been in Cave games, this one just happens to have a bit of a spin.

I'm really impressed with what I hear and most likely will Day One the OST.

I can't wait to soil my screen because of the panty shots
You're either completely out of touch with music or have absolutely no idea what dubstep is, dubstep is definitely in Saidaioujou's soundtrack.

It definetly is. Personally i haven't decided if that's a good thing or not.

It's there, but I think it's fitting. As long as it doesn't overpower the OST, I think it's fine.

Is this dubstep?
THIS JUST IN: ELIXIR NOW (THINKS) HE KNOWS WHAT DUBSTEP IS.

I heard (with headphones) the part everyone think is dubstep. lolz does this mean Autechre and Fluke are now dubstep? D:

Now Tekken Tag 2, that's some heavy dubstep flow.

Fasten your Seatbelts is not dubstep. Way too fast!

Can someone timestamp the video where this dubstep is meant to occur so I can risk hearing it?

It's at 2:36. I think people are overreacting pretty hard to 10 seconds of reverberating bass, even if it is (presumably) in a boss theme that you'll hear 3-5 times in the game. (But I'll admit I don't especially mind dubstep in general, it's more a problem of, any song that might get made by stoners who don't know what a note is is gonna suck.)

Autechre is amazing, arguably as influential as Squarepusher and Aphex Twin.

Dubstep has a pretty distinct sound (generic and boring imho), but many people who haven't heard much experimental breaks or IDM will call pretty much anything "dubstep".

It's pretty obvious the music from the trailer, at least some of it, is dubstep inspired.
Initially, I rolled my eyes when I heard there was dub in the trailer, but it doesn't sound as derivative as most dub
Sounds extremely 'limited' by the sound hardware and voices available

That one bit everyone's talking about in the SDOJ trailer might be a bit bass heavy (and I generally do like my music to be more treble-oriented), but it didn't really scream dubstep to me.

Yep, that sounds like it has dubstep stylings to me, although it's not very heavy. Fuck, why the hell did anyone have to mention that? :x

Soundtrack is now in auto suck mode.

EDIT: Listened a couple more times. It's kind of got some synthy dubstep wubbing, but the tempo of the snare is a little quick for Dubstep. It slots in quite neatly to the rest of the track to the point where it's not very obvious, and since the rest of the track isn't particularly special it's really no great shakes. Just hope the rest of the OST is better.

There are some dubstep moments, but it's still just "video game techno". Nothing you would ever hear in a real club, but sounds a lot like it. This dubstep argument is a bit overhyped at the moment. As far as I can tell "sound" of dubstep is that wub-wub-wub-wub, and while yes - the video did have it, it's like saying the Beastie Boys are classic rock because they use Led Zeppelin drum samples. :|

Well I certainly didn't mind the WUB WUB WUB WUB boss theme, but in general what I heard from the other song seemed not terribly remarkable to me.

If Rising Star get a port of this to the region I'll think of buying it.

Nobody is ever kidding ever.

You make owning a PCB sound like something bad...like "I've NEVER touched an underage boy in my LIFE. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?!"

both things seem totally plausible around these parts.

I was just about to make a thread about this...
People who have been here for years, and talk about these games daily, have way worse score than I do, and I've played seriously just a few months.
Feels like no-one is actually playing, but acting elite and discussing.
(I'll forgive Erppo, Gus, Sapz etc... you know)
I think a thread would be a good idea instead of derailing another topic with this sort of discussion. But, yeah just take a look at some of those games in the top 25 and how few people have learned to actually play them compared to how many claim to love them. I'm pretty sure that the majority here enjoys fawning over the graphics and music more than actually learning the games.
