SuperG, I just wanted to say thank you for all you do for the community. You put a lot of work into this for the sake of helping people. There are a bunch of jerks here, and with set back backs it can be frustrating. Again thank you for what you do!

Awesome, glad to hear that the problems are fairly simple. Sorry to hear about the added obstactles. Personally I know I went the *most* crazy when I couldn't pre-order anything to get in line. Now that it's just a matter of waiting for the process to complete, I know I'm fine waiting until it's working to specifications. You sir make high quality equipment.superg wrote:Good news, I've got the parts and after swapping and installing proper IC's everything works.
I will be working on the testing / assembly Friday night and all weekend. First I will ship combined gcompsw / gscartsw_lite orders as it would be a little easier for me to maintain.
As always tracking will be provided by paypal and I'll be making combined shipping difference refunds when I ship.
If anybody moved now is the time to let me know the new address, paypal doesn't change that for a set order.
On a separate note. Do you know the wattage used by each of your different units? I grabbed one of these power supplies and got Ste from HD Retrovision to verify that it wasn't producing a lot of noise. Now I want to hook it up to all of my signal switching gear with a DC barrel plug splitter and I'm trying to figure out if that power supply has sufficient amperage or if I should get a 5A one from the same company or if the 3A one is sufficient.
I've got a gscartsw 3.4, a gcompsw, and a Garo to feed the gcompsw into the gscartsw so I can leave my upscaler in one mode. I also want to hook up my gscartsw_lite when it comes.
The Garo site claims I need a 1A adapter, I assume the actual requirements are probably lower than this. Leaving 2A left on my 3A switch for a gcompsw, gscartsw 3.4, and gscartsw_lite. So I was hoping to get some data from you on your units.
If you're too busy (understandable), I was curious how I might best test if my power supply is sufficient myself. I have a "Kill a Watt" for my AC plugs. Is it a valid test to just make sure that my "Kill a Watt" reads no more than 27W (3A at the 9v output) on the AC end to ensure I'm not stressing the supply?
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
gcompsw consumes around 100mA (if I remember correctly), gscartsw and gscartsw_lite are under 100mA. You should be fine powering 3 of those with 500mA, what you have is much more so there shouldn't be any problem.DirkSwizzler wrote: On a separate note. Hi Superg,
Today, I feel desperate. My gsscartsw does not work anymore. After few days not being used, I've switched on my retrogaming setup to play Super Mario on my SNES.
Everything is pre-cable with following configuration ans working like a charm: SNES > GSCARTSW > XRGB MINI > TV
As a result I have a very poor sound, no picture. When I move the Scart to the last input of gscartsw is got better sound but no image.
For my testing, I've removed the XRGB mini and connected directly the GSCARTSW to the TV.
As a result, I have still very poor sound, except for last input and the image completey out of sync. Can send the image if needed.
I've tried to change the power supply of the GSCARTSW but no change.
Your support will appreciated?
Thanks much.

Have you tried changing the Scart cable, both from the console>gscartsw and from gscartsw>TV?psxswiss wrote:Hi Superg,

I was just wondering if you ever tested this with the lite? Sorry if I missed the follow-up in the thread.superg wrote:retrorgb is going to send me his RPi with SCART output and I will check the sync and why there is a difference, now it's a good timing because I'm testing gscartsw_lite.nakedarthur wrote:
That's good to know its nothing to do with my setup then. I was just looking at the resolutions again and Mortal Kombat is definitely interesting:
resolution x: 400 pixels
resolution y: 254 pixels
video frequency: 53.20 Hz
It looks like they basically lowered the refresh down quite a bit for 14 extra lines of vertical resolution. Perhaps an amplifier or something in the gscart isn't waiting long enough to receive vertical sync pulse? Anyway, it only affects a few games I've seen so far but it was driving me crazy since I thought it might just be something with my CRT_emudriver configuration.
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Yes, I actually did. First of all the root issue is that those games (for instance Mortal Kombat) generate totally out of spec signal, I checked it with oscilloscope and it looks weird.nakedarthur wrote: I was just wondering if you ever tested this with the lite? It's a coincidence that lite is forwarding it just fine (gscartsw v3.4 doesn't).
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
This may turn out to be a very silly question, but here goes.
I have a collection of pong consoles. My current setup involves plugging the RCA connector carrying the RF signal in the VHF input on a VCR via a coaxial type male to RCA female plug. The VCR then sends a compisite video signal to my TV.
I am looking for a switch box solution so that I can keep all of my pong consoles plugged in at once. Can I send an RF signal through the RCA composite lines on the gcompsw? I want to ask before trying it for fear of frying a circuit.
Pong consoles -> gcompsw -> coaxial type male to RCA female plug -> VCR -> TV
Thanks in advance

It's not going to work. RF is the worst you could get but usually it's easy to modify the console and get the composite before the RF modulation.WestRGB wrote:This may turn out to be a very silly question, but here goes.

Everything is on track, I plan to start shipping this week.
To make it a bit faster for everybody I will be soldering / testing smaller amounts, ship them and repeat.
(previously I didn't start shipping until I have every unit tested)

Cool. I know you said before there will be leftovers, is that still the case? Any estimate on when that will happen?

It will be a bit slower as nobody is helping me this time, will do my best!
How long do you estimate it will take for the leftovers to go on sale here?

Hello!
I'm a new user to Shmups.system11.org. I recently bought the Gamecube component cables and the HDRetrovision cables for my SNES. They look great on my Trinitron.
However, in order to get more hookups, I'm looking for a good component switch that does not compromise input lag or video quality. I think I found it here.
I'm looking forward to joining your ranks once you have the component switch available again.
Cheers

Tomorrow I'm dispatching all combined shipping orders and some early lite-only orders.
Weekdays are tough as I work full time, on a weekend I will be able to solder / assemble much more units.

Hey quick question!
I've had several systems plugged into a gscart with RGB, and I just added an Omega CMVS. Now it's squealing on power off.
I've been assured that it's normal and not an issue, but is there any way to correct it? If not, no big deal, just wanted to check.
Thanks!

Thank you! I can solder, but I'll leave it.
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
All combined gcompsw / gscartsw_lite orders have been dropped off. Some single orders were dispatched as well.
I'm soldering and testing next portion and hopefully it'll be shipped on Monday.
Overall 20% are shipped.

Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
if a new batch of either the lite or regular gscartsw go up for preorder count me in for a purchase
Re: gscartsw / gscartsw_lite / gcompsw switches support thre
Soldered and tested more units today, currently assembling the cases, will drop those off Monday-Tuesday.
I get some PMs from people asking if I shipped theirs. Please be patient, if you don't see tracking number in paypal, it's not shipped yet. I'm doing my best given the circumstances that I have to swap two chips on every board, that's why it's slower.
I ship on first come first served basis, the earlier you ordered, the earlier you'll get yours.

I have the same issue with my Model 1 Sega Genesis - it is the only console on my GSCART 3.4 that squeals. I don't have the issue if I hook it direct to the OSSC so it seems specific to routing the audio through the GSCART. One thing to note though, when I power off the Genesis, even on OSSC I can hear a faint squeal directly from the console, so it might be the GSCART is somehow amplifying the issue. I'm guessing it is just a sign that I need to re-cap my Genesis and nothing really to worry about outside of an annoyingly loud squeal when I shut it off.superg wrote:It's normal: audio filter capacitors discharge.Charlie97L wrote:Hey quick question!

Just thought I'd share, I thought previously I was the only one who experienced that, thanks for sharing your similar experience.
