I think they designed the TLB around it, rest of the game is more of a consequence. :P

Auto-Bomb? Ick. If/when there's a home version, hopefully that can be turned off. IINM, bombing kills a chain.

This soundtrack is one worth buying - I wouldn't mind seeing INH bring out a pack like their Ketsui superplay DVD/CD one. DFK's Ridge Racer style TLB music rocks.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I do appreciate Cave's revival of Dodonpachi with Daifukkatsu, but all this bullet cancelling and strategic bombing makes me ill. Daioujou, Ketsui, and Futari were a little different. With this, I'm seeing a lot of bullet cancelling, and a lot of post-bomb-interval damage whoring. It's still hard as ever, but the way I see it, this feels like Touhou with an eraser.

Maybe I'm wrong but that's the vibe these videos are giving me.

Seconded.

Though, I'm hardly an expert.

The Cave TLB formula is typically a series of dodgeable patterns, then the iconic bullshit one where you alternate between bombing and shaving off 2 pixels of health from the boss. That’s preserved here even with the bullet cancelling, because the wall of lasers makes the normal shot unviable.

I thought the entire fight was awesome from start to finish. AFAIK in power mode you only get one bomb slot, and no bombs on respawn. So wait for those videos, I guess.

The only problem here is that you can fill your hyper meter up just by canceling bullets (or shooting bullets because you won't actually be able to cancel these bullets) before your current hyper runs out. So, if you can actually survive through your entire hyper you should be able to use another one immediately after.

Yeah, the human-looking bosses, color scheme, bullet cancelling, etc etc turn me off. I dunno... it doesn't seem to have the same vibe that the other games do.

Yeah, with the wide formation of 6 options, and "strong style" in the video title.

There's some more discussion of Strong Style at cave-stg: http://www.cave-stg.com/forum/index.php ... 36#msg6736

i liked how cave put some codes into their games and then reveal it half a year later. too bad for those who already selling their dfk pcb without tasting the new shot.

Sure, it's neat that they extend the longevity of the games that way, but it seems that to got attention on the new characters they make them fairly overpowered. Now, maybe it's actually easier to chain and score really well with Power instead of Strong, but just look at how many people use Rosa now in DeathSmiles...

From the small amount of images and footage I was able to see, it looks like Cave has come through again. Though, as others have said, I'm a bit worried about the new system.

Hard to say, but if it does you'll be waiting a while after DOJ BL, Ketsui, and Deathsmiles are out.

Assuming the 360 ports do well, I wouldn't be suprised. There's kind of an "if" there, and in any case it's probably wouldn't be the next game they released.

No, bombing screws you as always. It's basically the same chaining system as DOJ, but hypers can also cancel bullets for more hits (and safety, of course).

What is the criteria for the DDP bosses? Sometimes I get them, usually I don't, but if I get one I get them on each stage. So is it all dependant on your performance before the first mid-boss? If so, what aspect? Because I've seen them unlocked with broken chains.

Would it have killed you to have linked directly to the video?
Or do you think we all know japanese around here?
