What [not shmup] game are you playing now?

Anything from run & guns to modern RPGs, what else do you play?

Went through the Titanfall 2 campaign. I thought it was quite good. Was glued to the screen for most of it. I'm way less enamored with the multiplayer. Milking bots doesn't do much for me. I'll probably try it again later anyway. Stealing batteries is kind of fun.

Rise of The Tomb Raider. It was alright. Doubt I'll play through it again. Definitely not interested enough to go do all the extra stuff. Nothing really super memorable about it to me.

I started playing Injustice again also after getting really annoyed with KOF 14.

I actually seem to be only able to play it for about an hour or two at a time before the stress makes me have to put it down for a bit. Great game so far.

Done playing RE7
it plays exactly like classic RE 1 or Remake
Capcom did it right..and yea FPS is the right choise for this game..i mean RE7 only
it has that crazy Texas Chainsaw Atmosphere
and amazing P.T camera works

but what really make it special is going back to original Ideas:
-Puzzles here and there (easy to medium)
-special keys for specific doors
-Bosses
-Save System
-Items

wow game..yea very disappointing Final Boss but overall is Epic experience

=======

the best thing is the new coming DLC's offers lots of new gameplay and story campaign

^aha, just started Persona 1 (psp) recently. Enjoying so far!

At first it's a welcome change from Etrian Odyssey grindin' for days livin in a maze.
I assume the difficulty will ramp up and make me whimper soon enough.

as for EO, finally took down one of the dragons; Wyrm.
I was losing because he'd hit me with a spell that caused both confuse and an attack debuff. Then he'd fry me next turn because my Protector couldn't use Antifire.
To my shame, I had to ask google even more.
Learned if I buffed my attack, then his debuff would just remove it and not inflict confuse in the process. logic..

I highly recommend you to patch the game to play it with the original PSX music, that popshit they used in the psp remake is atrocious and a mood killer.

He did anything big besides SMT designs?
Strange Journey is one of the bests in the series. You'll need a really good plan to beat the final bosses.

He directed a lot of them, so that's more then designs.

If you mean other non-smt games, he also worked on Maken X and contributed some designs to Zone of The Enders and Devil May Cry.

Been challenging OutRun 2006: Coast 2 Coast, trying to get all AAA's in the titular mode. I've been streaming it too, it's been fun.

Started replaying Bahamut Lagoon on the SFC and made it to Chapter 6. It's a fun strat game with a ton of rpg elements, but wow even some of the earlier maps take a long ass time to beat.

There's quite a bit of hilarious stuff that goes on in the story, especially with one romantic subplot where our main hero gets rejected by his "childhood friend/lover" for a former enemy-turned-ally.

Double Dragon IV (PC) - I like how it plays, but this could use 16-bit visuals with larger sprites ala Double Dragon Advance or the Neo-Geo fighter. At least they didn't try to copy the slowdown from the arcade games or the low enemy counts of the NES ones. Sometimes the enemy count can be around 5 or 6 onscreen at once. Not bad for $7.
Kinect? KIN NOT.

I'm a little ways in, though I've only played a handful of the other Tales games so I'm not really qualified to "place" it or anything. On a purely personal level early impressions are mostly positive; at the very least the camera and AI seem a good deal better than from what I remember of Zestiria.

Yes. It's cool as shit. Whatever is worth liking about other Tales games is also present in it, and the combat system has really silly ways of extending combos to hysterical lengths.

Yakuza Zero.... I'm all about the disco and my hostess bar at the moment.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Mike Tyson's Punch-Out - NES
This game is just flat out fun, I made it up to Macho Man without any difficulties but he pummeled me. I'll have to give it a couple more tries to see if I can learn his patterns. Stumbled across a downward dodge move by double-tapping down, guess I should read through game manuals more often (my collection is mostly loose carts). Debating picking up the Mr. Dream version just to fill out my collection a bit and give the opportunity for a conversation starter when a friend is glancing through my game shelves.

Legend of Zelda - NES
Made it up to Level 4 in one sitting, not bad. Got the first sword upgrade on top of the waterfall before shutting it off. I really enjoy this game and it's been a long time since I fired it up, I was happy that my save file from 7-8 years ago was still on there (original battery!). I guess time will tell if this will start a chain reaction where I play through all the main Zelda titles in order of their release date like it did last time LOL.

Just oddball stuff like the Philips CDi games, the Sattellaview BS Lttp thing, Wii crossbow training, and Hyrule Warriors. If I were to do a marathon I'd have to pick up copies of Spirit Tracks, Oracle of Seasons, and some GBA/GC Link cables to finally play 4-sword Adventures on GC with co-op.

The Sattellaview BS game seems interesting, I might give it a try on an emulator. Crossbow training was fun for a few minutes, but there are way better shooting gallery style light gun games out there. I couldn't get into Hyrule Warriors, but it seemed to have a storyline at least. I don't own a CDi but the general consensus is the CDi Zelda games are beyond awful LOL.

I'm totally in sync with you on the subject I guess, but then again, I probably wouldn't even consider the CDi games, crossbow training, etc. "Zelda games" at all. :P

That said, the CDi games are hilarious, I think they are worth playing. They are absolutely broken, but not any more than most other western b-grade attempt at "adventure platformers" from the time. Despite the absolutely horrendous collision detection, they are also really easy to abuse, so playing them never feels "bad" in the way that gets in the way of being entertained by the absurd animations and dialogue, etc. that you come across along the way.
To be honest, I think they had a good idea with the games, and if they weren't horribly executed, they could have turned into pretty interesting offshoots from the Zelda series.

Steamworld: Heist

Pleasantly surprised at how much fun this game is. I loved Worms hotseat in college but its singleplayer sucked and its online multiplayer sucked even more (everyone using the two best weapons and nothing else). This game mixes the bust-a-move kind of aiming from the Worms games with nu-Xcom style 2 action point auto cover turn based movement in randomly generated 2D platform arenas.

It's surprisingly fun and moves at a breakneck pace once you get a feel for the controls (you can give commands to other teammates while one is still animating their movements.

Humble Bundle was giving away for free X-COM UFO Defense a couple days ago so I'm giving it a try now.

Someone recommended using OpenXcom and holy crap, it improves the game so much. Bigger resolution options, tons of quality of life improvements, many bugs that plagued the original were fixed, a dedicated battle mode to try out different loadouts and tactics, ironman mode...and so much more. It gives new life to X-COM. The devs are working on OpenTFTD as well, really looking forward to that.

Back in the day I savescummed my way to victory so now I want to do things the right way. Started a game on beginner ironman and, as usual in this game, my soldiers are dropping like flies. First terror mission, only 1 soldier out of 8 came back alive. January isn't even over yet and 10 soldiers are dead already, lol. Trying to get a hold of laser rifles and armor asap.

It's good to play this gem again.

The hubbub around Resident Evil 7 has encouraged me to get into Resident Evil, starting with the first (HD remaster). The backgrounds all look like they have this ugly filter on them, but it's not too detrimental to me. And it's pretty goddamn tense, even though everything about it is cliché as all hell. Fuck, even the slight differences in timing of the door transition animations unnerve me. The big open mansion begs to be explored but the prevalent zombies and other monsters make each step in uncharted territory an unnerving one, even places you've already visited. There's something oddly endearing about everything in RE which makes me want to play it more. I hear this doesn't have the original so-bad-it's-good English dubs unfortunately.

It's a bit disheartening if the first result in Google when you type in 'resident evil' is the Wikipedia article for the fucking movie series.

REmake is seriously good stuff. Backdrops and 3D models alike have aged superbly, it's a nightmarishly decrepit trip. Can almost smell the black mold in those mansion hallways, and the foggy night air of the exterior grounds. Incidentally I first played it while house-sitting a hurricane-wrecked home, kinda added to the experience both ways. Dreamed one night a pair of scabrous legs was casually dangling over the edge of the hole in the kitchen ceiling. It holds up under normal circumstances too!

Love that game. Coming back to it after years and other horror franchises under my belt, I forgot how damn scary it was.
As much as I love SH2, James' ability to wreck anything in front of him effectively kills the tension when replaying it.

REmake's creeping terror really does hold up.

I hope you're playing with the classic "tank controls," Durandal. The new scheme looks stupidly easy, letting you run rings around zombers.
