From what I can find online, the DFP and DFGT are actually the most compatible wheels for PS2

I haven't see any mention of the US/CAN Logitech wheels not working on jp PS2. They were sold in Japan as well, so such a behavior would really surprise me! Maybe someone else can confirm or deny

They are not, I've been using my UK-bought Logitech GT Force with games from US and JPN. And Finnish-bought DFGT with some games (don't remember if IDSS was one of them) as well, before I got the GT Force.

DFGT's compatibility rate on PS2 isn't quite 100%, while a GT Force should work with everything.

Do you like the GT Force best for IDSS?
This guy on reddit has terrible feedback : "Just an FYI, the GT Force Wheel is complete garbage with Special Stage. It vibrates like crazy (in an annoying way) with you drive over road stripes and the force feedback (even when set to max) is just as lacking as if you did't plug in the controller.
If you go from GT3 to Special Stage it feels like your wheel is broke or something. GT3 has the prefect feedback, so it's difficult to go back. Especially since Initial D Stage 2 (which Special Stage is based on) feels like GT3s feedback"

I have a line for a DFGT at $70 CAN, which is a great price. But if the GT Force is much better, than I might hold out for that instead

ALso : does the DFGT work with the ps2 Burnout games?

I still need to get a Para Para controller for my Para Para Paradise game... I don't think it works without it.

That keyboard is remarkable Minty.

No pics, but I just traded a good friend some DC games I didin't play to acquire Last Hope Pink Bullets.

Strider on the PS 2, and I ordered an RJ45 to PSX cord for my stick.

Also got BlazBlue Central Fiction PS4 (digital), KOF XIII Steam, Sonic and SEGA Racing Transformed Steam, and Guilty Gear X2 Slash Steam (I heard it has some differences from Accent Core and some like it better).

The DFGT is a newer wheel than the GT Force so my guess is it will be the better of the two. It is actually a pretty great wheel for the price point it was at when it was new. If you ever decide to play it with some PC or PS3 racing sim games you will get some good force feedback out of it. I loved my DFGT when I was using it with Gran Turismo 5 & 6, IMO you'll be happy with it.

Another trip to my local game store and they had yet another lot of Turbografx stuff come in! Ended up picking up Aero Blasters and a loose Ninja Spirit hucard. Almost picked up a loose Splatterhouse hucard but they were asking too much I thought ($45...meh). Also picked up Dragon Warrior II and Dragon Spirit for the NES. I've owned DW-III for a long time but have been waiting to play the second first, so I'm pretty happy about that. Been looking for Ninja Spirit since I got my TG-16, I wanted a complete copy but I'm tired of waiting lol.

Been busy working a lot of overtime lately so I haven't had as much time for gaming as I'd like, but in my life it's always been money or time....never both at the same time. Might as well stockpile some games for the next time life decide time is the theme lol.

I've been after Gun-Dec for a long time, for some reason it's pretty hard to find in decent condition. The printing is done in that annoying ink that fades really easily, like Kiki Kaikai on SFC.

Interesting... I completely lucked out on a NOS copy a few years back - was during the "no remorse" phase of my hardcore FC collecting, so I pounced without hesitation. Had no idea it was one of those fade-prone boxes. I keep all my stuff cool, dry and dark as a rule but it never hurts to know this stuff.

SFC Kiki Kaikai, yeah, judging from various auction photos it's brutal to keep in decent nick.

i feel like the box art for gun-dec goes way harder on the (blade runner's) deckard-lookalike visual theme than the game itself does

boy that movie sure influenced a buncha games

anyway, yes, good pick-ups. i recommend shatterhand over solbrain, but i'd like a copy of solbrain myself just for the slight differences.

I think that's the first time I've seen the Gun-Dec box art compared to anything other than Bruce Willis/Die Hard.

I agree. The submarine stage is way cooler, and I just overall prefer Shatterhand's style. But the price on Solbrain was so good it would've been stupid not to nab it.

Solbrain is super expensive, which is my only reason to go with Shatterhand... I would love to have a carnival stage in it :D

I definitely prefer Shatterhand.

They both have funny covers. Bruce Willis or 80s radical man.

Bit more FC rovin'.

Recently got SMB2J's GBA Famicom Mini version, because I hate the SFC comp's glitched block-breaking. So it goes with SMB1. Not as ironman-tough, but it does have a much stronger Superior JP Boxart score!

Wataaa! Yie Ar Kung Fu. I do like how early Konami FC boxes tend to have no English whatsoever (and little other text besides).

OMG! STFU Sumez, you incorrigible PAL RACIST (・`W´・) Pls respect the struggles of Eagleville USA where all early Nintendo NES boxes were done in MSpaint Image

That SMB looks in really nice condition, BIL!

Just checked and was surprised that the US never did get the illustrated cover art.

Thanks! And yeah, this thread has taken a really educational turn for us all.  I'm genuinely surprised you guys got the lovely JP art. Now that I think back, Kung Fu's the same. "Black Box" generic in US, FC artwork in EU.

It's all marginally stylised black boxes in early NTSCU first party stuff. They're even fetishised by collectors. 3: I suppose they have a certain... I dunno, retro-modern pixel aesthetic, but to me they're little better than Sega's infamously nondescript early SMS boxes (and without their unintended hilarity). Some have nasty artefacts that spoil the 1:1 pixel resolution effect, too, like Popeye and Olive Oyl's unnerving glasgow smiles, or Balloon Fight's squashed characters. Nowhere as well-done as the FC boxes' contrasting of hand-drawn art to crisp in-game pixels.

The funny thing is that some of the Atari made ports of Nintendo games to Atari 2600, Atari 5200, Atari 7800, and Atari 800/XL have neat box art that looks like it came from Nintendo of Japan.

Couldn't say no to this at 600 yen:

And this was fairly reasonable imo seeing as it's factory sealed:
