That's lovely, wish I had the cash to get a copy. Seeing him play selections of this material when he toured the release of Nah Und Fern live was a real highlight for me, incredible experience.
That sounds amazing. Hopefully he comes to the US to support his recently announced new album.

Despite being heavily into ambient since the 90s, I'd never heard of the GAS project until now. I'm waiting for the weekend (and the proper weekend relaxing accoutrements) to dive in.

The cost was a tough pill to swallow but I'll just have to refrain from buying any games/records for the next 6 months.

DB Electronics has been out of stock on their plug-and-play Turbografx RGB thing for quite awhile now. I think I saw StoneAgeGamer have them instock for approx 2-3 hours once but I wasn't willing to pay an extra $40 for a plastic box covering it lol

So I ordered this thing from china like a month ago (something like $18 shipped).....finally showed up. Haven't been able to try the amplified RGB output from it yet (need to order a Genesis2 SCART cable, kinda unsure if I need csync or sync on composite video cable), but the composite video looks a lot better than it does coming straight out of the designated pins on the back. Previously I had some crimp connectors attached with my own ghetto DIY composite+stereo cable and this is already an improvement.

Once I figure out which SCART cable I need for it and get it running in RGB I'll probably 3D print a cover for it that makes it blend in with the system better.

Image

EDIT: Good thing I sent the seller an e-mail, he said the SCART cable I buy should not have any components in it since the capacitors and resistors are already on this board. I'll probably just make my own using the RCA style plugs on the back (it has RCA connectors for RGB too)

A man in Japan got them for me! :D

You might struggle to track down the top cab as it was part of a series of Sega cabs (Bokuno Game Center Vol 1), and they're long out of production (2005).

The second set is a recent release from Wave models, and should be easy enough to find - each set contains one cab model and you can assemble it to represent whichever game you see fit out of Virtua Fighter, Die Hard Arcade or Fighting Vipers.

My copy of the Shinobi III ost on vinyl arrived yesterday from Data-Discs. I had planned on snagging the SOR 1 ost, but it sold out quicker than I expected. Figured I should grab at least one of these before they're gone. Here's hoping they'll produce a TF3 or TF4 vinyl down the road (seeing as Sega now own the license).

I have that record but very rarely listen to it. They should have made it a double album, there are just so many tracks crammed in there so they're all really short versions. It's a bit annoying to listen to imo.

The OST on this release is godlike.

The disc is scratched though. :( I have to return it. On the bright side, the ISO works, lol.

That is an awesome box, but he left out his debut as Gas. Try to find that in its original form. He replaced 2 tracks with orchestral Ambient Techno just like on everything in that box and it sounds out of place on Nah Und Fern boxed set version.

I've always wondered - with the Initial D games do you need to have any understanding of Japanese or can you just jump in and play?

The PS2 and PS3 games have the menus in Japanese, but they're fairly easily navigated with a FAQ until you get used to recognizing which squiggly line means "Race".

That is a good line-up although I would argue the game is unplayable without a steering wheel. I've yet to confirm how it plays with a wheel but based on controller behaviour it should be better/more manageable. Its unfortunate nobody was able to develop a truly good home version of Initial D (Extreme Stage is very accurate, too bad the source is dog crap) as Ver.1 to 3 offered plenty of opportunity. The PS2 game is as close as it gets I suppose.

It's voice acted, so you can get the gist of the story easily enough. It basically boils down to 'You drive [CAR]? Well I drive [CAR]! Let's race!"

And I think I can manage with the PS2 controls. I almost got to Takumi on the PSP version, heh.

Picked up a lot of Turbografx stuff off craigslist. Some decent stuff...second controller, turbotap, and a few games. Also picked up a loose copy of Bomberman at a local store, and got a SCART cable for my new a/v booster knockoff. I'm getting a few artifacts in the video and the audio has a slight hum, but I think it's the super cheap flimsy SCART cable. Need to order a better one now that I've tested it.

Cool, I may just check this out then at somepoint... potential langauge issues have put me off any previous interest in the series I had.

Does the G27 work with PS2? Dang I shouldn't have sold mine when I upgraded to PS4! My T300 is 10x better than the G27 but I would have kept it for PS2 support.

Are peripherals for PS2 region locked? I still have a DFGT wheel somewhere, despite it not having a clutch pedal or H-pattern shifter I actually like it better than the G27 (the force feedback on the DFGT is better).
