In a way, BL is to Tetris TGM3 as 1.5 is to Tetris TGM2+; BL is okay I guess but don't play it too often if you want to develop in 1.5. It's like relying on the floorkick in TGM3 to help you make tetrises.

Is it normal that there are so much slowdowns when I have all the power ups, or is it because I installed the game to my HD?

Nope you can make slowdown with the laser shot in BL. Good for survival but pretty bad for score.

Okay I found out what the problem was, it had so many slow-downs because I installed the game, I uninstalled it it had it run off the disc and there was still some slow-downs during frantic moments but it was much better than when I had the game installed.

Perhaps Black Label should change the mode select screen from Original, Manic, God to match the difficulty titles in the new Matt Hazard game.

Did a lotta testing playing around on my end with the freezing thing 'cause it caused a few deaths. Short story is bloodflowers is right. I'm 99% sure the BL DLC'd freezes are caused by background activity on the xbox itself as Mushi is running.

Background activity can be anything but not limited to:
360 connecting or maintaining connection to the internet
Friend signs on/off/changing games or stat info (even with notifications turned off)
Any popup notifications
Accessing ripped game from HDD
Using custom soundtracks

I dunno what the threshold of background activity is required to cause a freeze frame, as I know things like every single popup notification didn't cause a freeze and every time a friend signed on or off (even on Busy) didn't cause one every time. I was able to increase my freeze frames anytime I wanted though. And that was through custom soundtracks. When you rip many many gigs of music to the HDD, the xbox music player can't handle it, so every time it has to deal with the shuffle function on a large playlist or everything on the box, not only may it take minutes (of silence) for 360 to get to the next song, but the game freezes constantly as it searches. I got like 16 freezes back to back on a track switch once. Haven't set my collection to random after that. But even in hand selected playlists of a hundred songs or so set to shuffle, I get 2-4 freezes easy on every song switch. Turning off Shuffle function reduces the freezing a lot during custom soundtracks.

Anyway, not only was I able to increase the freezes, I was able to completely eliminate the freezing as well. Since the aim is to reduce the background activity on the xbox, the best way to do that is to be offline. But you can't just sabotage your internet connection because despite the system wants you to hit 'Test Connection' everytime you try to connect, the xbox is trying to connect you in the background while you're offline even though the success rate is usually nil. Therefore, I was still getting very few freezes when my internet for Live was connected and not working, but I didn't have a freeze at all for hours when I completely unplugged my ethernet jack. When I say 'for hours', I didn't ever have a freeze that whole time. I just setup my Live connection again because I wanted to be back online.

But that doesn't help anybody because we all play on Score Attack for leaderboards n such.
I switched profiles to one with no friends on the list, connected to live, set online status to 'Busy', and didn't run custom soundtracks. I had 1 freeze over like, 8 credits.

I tried the same situation with the game ripped to HDD. Had like 3 freezes in about 8 credits.

Said fuck HD rip, deleted.

Playing online score attack with my standard gamertag with 100 friends list full, 8 credits, no custom soundtracks, set to busy, playing of CD, I had about 6-8 freezes in 8 credits. One of them back to back.

HDD ripping the game is debatable, but I think the results are it increases the BL DLC freezes but only slightly.

My box: Elite, 120GB, 110GB used (50+GB music), wireless G (linksys) connection

Wonder if the wireless connection has anything to do with it. I have the same setup, but connect with a fast, stable wired LAN.
I have it installed on the hdd. Haven't had a single freeze in the many hours I've played the game. I have 1.01 and BL playable.
Popups, notifications, etc while playing the game have no effect.

There may be something to this. None of my import games have online multiplayer, so I never added anyone to the friends list on my Japanese account. I brought my Futari disc to a buddy's house, who has a ridiculously active friends list and gets notifications pretty much non-stop. I saw the first boss "pink square" graphical glitches for the first time. (this was with no Black Label installed)

I saw graphic glitches in 360 modes when I first got the game and didn't have BL. I wasn't connected to Xbox live at any time.
I don't think those have anything to do with the notifications or network status, whereas the BL freezes may be connected to those.

I have a wired ethernet connection and it still does it occasionally. It only did it after buying BL.

Although I've noticed this freezing has died down after hours of playing. I don't know how Asada intends on fixing this if it isn't related to Futari in itself.

I just received my Futari LE today and was wondering if the DLC card was inside the sealed case or if it was seperate, like Death Smiles LE.

All factory sealed LEs come with the DLC card inside the sealed DVD case (behind the instruction manual).

After not playing for a few weeks, I landed my first REAL (non-doujin) 1cc tonight on my third credit: Black Label Original! WOO. My score was a weak 278 million, but I DON'T CARE BECAUSE I FINALLY DID IT.

Ack. I hope I didn't just stir up some controversy - I didn't mean to! =(

I always thought doujin 1cc's weren't really "cared" about that much... but hey, if I'm wrong, then I'm going to go look over my 1cc list again and feel even BETTER than I do right now!

BL DLC is really amazing. I almost have no time to play other games. :P
And I think God is much more easier than Ultra.

Really getting into Arrange Original recently, can clear it with about 2.6 billion points so far but want to hit 4 ideally. I remember a lot of people dismissing it a bit further up the thread but I urge you to reconsider. Sure it's an easy clear with a crap score but an ideal run has you facing off against every boss with no slowdown or reflection use. It's nasty.

doujin = FAKE 1CC
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

Any game I get a 1cc in = real 1cc.

Anyone else who gets a 1cc in that game = they didn't play it the "right way", fake 1cc for them only.

Anyone who gets a 1cc in a game that kicks my ass = loser lives in parents basement, fake 1cc cause the have unfair freetime.

I had plans to get over 4 billion here, but I always mess something up on one of the stages.. just have to get the counters up so high.

The freezing only occurs if you buy the Black Label DLC, and even then it really isn't game breaking. Hardly happens to me at all anymore. Get it. Amazing game.

The fact that I cant buy BL in order not to have a chance to freeze is a bit disappointing. Is it like 5% chance of freezing while playing?

Freezing in BL is pretty much inevitable. A read-through of this entire thread will make that apparent. I wouldn't necessarily call it a "Freeze", however. Its more like a split-second stutter. There is plenty of game in the Futari package even without BL.

I haven't seen any freezes yet, with around 10 hours of play time. I have seen the Pink Block graphical glitch on the first boss, once on a friend's 360. Maybe Black Label added some code to intentionally glitch on non-Japanese 360s, just to stick it to those whiney foreigners bugging them to make other games region free. (just kidding)
