My advice would be to get a HuCard convertor off of eBay and go after Jap releases for the more expensive games... unless you're starting after Turbografx games only.egg_sanwich wrote:Yeah, cheap and Turbografx don't really fit into the same sentence much these days. @DQ187 - that Wii U pod is cool, reminds me of the Dreamcast one Sega did, I'd really have liked one of those!

Got some older Roland DM-20 shielded monitor speakers.

I got mine from Big Bad Toy Store. Thanks for the info. Any recommendation of where I could get this?
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

You're probably right. My situation with the TG16 is different from other systems like the Genesis that I've had since childhood and already own a pile of games for. Starting from scratch with a system in this day and age SUCKS! Everdrive is probably the best option unless I can get a big lot of stuff for a good price.Limbrooke wrote:I'm going to recommend getting a Turbo Everdrive. The cost involved with buying single legitimate games for TG16 has gotten costly and for titles like Blazing Lazers your money is better spent on an all in one solution like the TE.
Well cheap is subjective, I probably should have been more descriptive. I guess I'm looking for suggestions for games under the $100 mark. The TG16 stuff is a bit expensive, but not nearly as bad as something like the Neo Geo AES. I haven't bought a new game for mine in probably 5 years for that reason LOL.egg_sanwich wrote:Yeah, cheap and Turbografx don't really fit into the same sentence much these days. A region mod or HuCard converter would be a good idea! The place I got the TurboGrafx from had a pile of PC-Engine hucards and they were a lot cheaper.Tarma wrote:My advice would be to get a HuCard convertor off of eBay and go after Jap releases for the more expensive games... unless you're starting after Turbografx games only.
On a side note I found some pin connectors lying around and soldered up a DIY composite video cable just connecting everything to the pins on the back of the system. The composite video out of the TurboGrafx is surprisingly good (or maybe the TV I'm using these days just has a better comb filter). Definitely still need to install an RGB amp in there, but for the time being it's not bad!
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
One of my favourite little AC->console oddities, that one! Actually, I'm not sure how much it varies from the arcade game... but it certainly feels like an "arrange mode" affair, with the balance of relentless DECO carnage to item hunting. Very Senjou no Okami II MD.CIT wrote:This was one of the last titles on my PCE search list:
Alien Storm, nice. I wish I'd nabbed that one years back, when I went on a short "early years first party MD" run. Just missed out on it, stopped short at Golden Axe. That sleeve art's got character.Filled a few Mega Drive holes. Nothing toooo special, I already have most MD stuff I wanted...
How does Moonwalker play? One of those games that gets so much (always questionable) mainstream buzz, but doesn't seem to come up much around these parts.
Beautiful....that's why it's time to finally upgrade!

Decided to go ahead and get the Brooks 360-PS4 adapter. I heard that it adds less input lag than before after the latest update (supposedly less than the Chronosmax). I tried the EX-SE with it and it works great. It doesn't seem to time out either (I heard it doesn't time out after the latest update, but I don't know if the status on that changed). I went ahead and ordered the Avengers Under Siege GN since I heard good things about Roger Stern's run and the price was very reasonable.

Talk about a coincidence.WelshMegalodon wrote:Stern's original storyline... was about Jan demonstrating her leadership. Stern did a better job with Jan in four years than other writers managed to do in twenty...

Monica Rambeau wouldn't be a bad character to have in the MCU, though it would have to be under a name other than Captain Marvel.

I'm pretty fond of horror themed board games. Reminds me of The Descent.

I like it. I mentioned in the last post that I tried the RAP EX-SE with it. It was nice and responsive and worked great with Skullgirls, the Hamster Arcade Archives, and Garegga. I definitely like the custom button feature since the default button layout for the EX-SE is a bit odd. I like the layout for the RAP 4 Kai better.Stevens wrote:Have you had a chance to use it yet? Click spoiler to see list of games. Also, I'll be honest, I only bought Makaijima because of Cuck Island

Spoiler
I grouped the FC games together by series, not by the order in which they appear in the picture...
FC
FC
- Ninja Ryukenden (aka. Ninja Gaiden)
- Ninja Ryukenden II (aka. Ninja Gaiden 2)
- Ninja Crusaders
- Akumajou Special: Boku Dracula-kun
- Akumajou Densetsu (aka. Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse)
- Rolling Thunder
- Kunio-kun: Nekketsu Kouha (aka. Renegade)
- Kunio-kun: Downtown - Nekketsu Koushinkyoku - Soreyuke Daiundoukai
- Kunio-kun: Downtown - Nekketsu Monogatori (aka. River City Ransom)
- Kunio-kun: Downtown Special - Kunio-kun no Jidaigeki da yo Zenin Shugo (sequel to River City Ransom)
- Ganbare Goemon
- Makaijima (I'm guessing that this is a spin-off from the Makaimura series, seems like a very different game)
- Turtles 2 (aka. Manhattan Project)
- Hoshi no Kirby (aka. Kirby's Adventure)
- Ninja Jajamaru: Ginga Daisakusen (I can't wait to play this game, looks awesome, I'm not too familiar with the Jajamaru-kun series but this seemed like a good place to start
)
- Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram
- Street Fighter III: W Double Impact

Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
It's actually a greatly expanded home port of their arcade action/puzzler Pirate Ship Higemaru, one of Capcom's earliest games - it's on Capcom Generation 3 along with Vulgus, Exed Exes and Son Son.pestro87 wrote:Makaijima (I'm guessing that this is a spin-off from the Makaimura series, seems like a very different game)

Oh ok, that's cool! Looking forward to trying it out now. Thanks, BIL!
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I'll let you know about Moonwalker when I give it a serious go. Basically I just bought it cuz it was cheap.BIL wrote:How does Moonwalker play? One of those games that gets so much (always questionable) mainstream buzz, but doesn't seem to come up much around these parts.

I gotta say, I'm loving the 32X so far. I'm really impressed that the video signal is actually much cleaner, so it also improves your regular MD games, getting rid of some of the artefacts and under-scan.Beautiful.No matter what anyone says, it's worth it for Virtua Racing Deluxe (and only the JP cart saves laptimes!). I kinda want to hunt down Space Harrier and After Burner II now.
Chaotix' rubber band physics are super enjoyable, kind of the umiharakawasezation of Sonic. Love the graphics as well, it's odd that to date this might still be the best looking 2D Sonic we ever got. And holy fuck, the sound is pure multichannel FM funk heaven. o_O
Tempo...kinda sucks to be honest. Overblown chaotic stages (if you gotta put arrows all over the place to show where the player should be going it's not really a sign of good level design), fuzzy sound and repetitive compositions and wonky jumping controls didn't make a good first impression on me.
For sure I'm gonna pick up Virtua Racing, Space Harrier and After Burner. They're all cheap to boot.
Also want to get the (rather forgettable in gameplay terms) Cyber Brawl/Cosmic Carnage simply because of it's ungodly OST. Truly mindblowing!
Also interested in Parasquad/Zaxxon's Motherbase 2000, but it tends to be a bit pricey. Not sure it's worth 150 bucks.

I'll give my impressions of Moonwalker when I try it too, though I have other means of playing it (though I do have the cart of the SMS version, which from what I played feels toned down in a bad way compared to what I played of the Genesis version).
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
I have it, never made it anywhere in it. It's a very confusing game, but interesting to me for two reasons: It's an early Fujiwara title (aka Porfessor F, if anyone doesn't know him, you will definitely know most of the game he put his touch on), and a predecessor to the unique gem that is SFC Goof Troop - an amazing concept that unfortunately never managed to get expanded upon since then.BIL wrote: It's actually a greatly expanded home port of their arcade action/puzzler Pirate Ship Higemaru, one of Capcom's earliest games - it's on Capcom Generation 3 along with Vulgus, Exed Exes and Son Son.I've long been curious about the FC version myself, nice pickup!
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
Certainly an interesting title. But isn't it better to just jump in with the Saturn sequel/remake?
Re: Awesome stuff you've just bought (+pics please)
The eye test says it appears they are very similar. So sure. I can't imagine you're missing out on much of a story:DCIT wrote:Certainly an interesting title. But isn't it better to just jump in with the Saturn sequel/remake?
After comparing the prices though, not sure what your budget is, but fuck that. Stellar Assault goes for drug money, not a copy under $150. There are copies of Shadow Squadron for under $30.
Unless you want Assault for completion purposes it isn't a $100+ better game than Squadron. No way. I say that having never played Assault, but I've played SS enough to know it is really good, and $30 is a steal.

Despite the b/w art on the cover, the Archie GN is in full color.

I can chime in on Moonwalker. Time hasn't been too kind, but it's a fun enough 2D platformer. Some great chiptune remixes of MJ tracks.
The arcade game is WAY better.
The circle is complete, now I have all the (good) Elminage games:

I think the cover is sun faded, though... or something.

good RGB to component transcoders give us good options now, since there are a some very good Sony's and JVC's (and other brands) CRTs equipped with component inputs here.
There are also people over here who are RGB-modding consumer sets. It's not a big movment yet, but it has certainly taken off.

Muramasa Rebirth and Gravity Rush for PSVita, and replacement battery for my cellphone because my old one drains super fast these days, sometimes it just shuts itself off when somebody calls and the battery meter is pure fiction. So hopefully this is the end of that.
My 1CCs so I can find the list easier myself
