Karel and Lili announced as DLC characters
https://twitter.com/charaani_games/stat ... 5706913793

Looks like they readding playable characters that only appeared (or got demoted in DUO) in the first game as DLC.

Their stages and music from Rev.X are included as well. Wonder how they'll work out in DUO. Sakurako had trouble in Rev.X and afaik she's even worse compared to the cast in DUO with Shinobu being a stronger alternative. I sort of hope Karel isnt top tier again but more viable characters is great.

Finally, some new content that actually matters. Kind of stupid to make them DLC though. Hopefully their transition from Rev.X is handled more like Ernula and less like Sakurako.

Not having really looked at the DUO roster before (since I had no way to play it), now I realize most of the characters I actually played in the first game got demoted to support?

Hopefully the DLC turns that around, then.

What? The only previously-playable character that became support-only was Lili.

Well, for those headed or at AX, Degica has SnR2 playable at their booth, it has all of the pilots playable with their alternate oufits/cartridges, and yeah, the desings for the ones not shown yet on the official site for character profiles have it changed kinda drastically.

But I guess that's how it is.

Apparently there's now a demo on the JP PS Store.

Yep, just played it. My report after spending some time with the demo:

Good/Potentially Good Changes:

Main menu is less boring to look at and more aesthetically pleasing.
Assist types are now tied to individual characters/cartridges.
More assist types.
Some old assists have been tweaked.
Assists now have a cooldown timer, and can be used multiple times in a round.

Neutral/Seemingly Unnecessary Changes:

Linking the power meter to picking up score items doesn't really change the flow of the game, either for better or for worse.
A leveling system? Why?

Bad/Potentially Bad Changes:

New HUD is rather plain-looking and sterile.
Some assists can't be used during opponent's BOSS mode.
BOSS mode can no longer be used to recover armor.
New character art and VA still suck.

Can you hide character portraits? They are stealing like 15% or more from screen

You wont get charge from hitting the opponent if you stay far away, opponent gets a lot more charge than you do if you try to abuse better long range combat and miss the items. If you're close up the items get picked up as you're dealing damage. Same during boss fights, your gauge wont go up if you just sit in place dodging. You get the charge items from bullet cancelling with special melee (main+sub) which is a huge change. If someone makes an ill-timed barrage attack or uses boss poorly you can get a big advantage with a well timed bullet cancel. Eg. if fabian does rotate-barrage now you can get nearly full gauge from cancelling it. Mika still has the easy to use special melee from DUO so it's quite easy to use for bullet cancels. Same with Changpo with some startup.

Time based charge gain is super slow now and melee attacks are easier to hit (so draining opponents gauge is easier). Bosses get more time and health with the same charge than before, one charge bar is enough to give your boss half health. So using them to deal damage is doable. One of the assists is a jammer to prevent the other player from activating boss for a time, that sounds really gamechanging since boss activation is also how you escape from melee combos and avoid wasting gauge.

Also in senkoro 2 you take NO damage if you block normal bullets with barrier. Another weakness to relying on big clusters of bullets since barrier seems to use gauge over time rather than per bullet blocked.
You can use a barrage attack with less than 1 gauge at the cost of going into an overheat state.
g.rev listed various changes here: http://www.grev.co.jp/blog/archives/818

From playing the demo Fabian seems good for once in this version? The melee buff is sorta crazy but hopefully makes a balance to counter the new defensive tools (bullet cancels, improved barrier). Watch the DLC Karel neutral barrage just beat any melee again

Some charge items still go flying towards you even if you're far away, and the pick-up radius is quite generous, so just dashing around and repositioning like you normally would is enough to pick up a lot of them. Maybe it's just because of my playstyle that I don't notice much of a difference.

BOSS health is the same as in DUO. In DUO, you could also activate BOSS with half health with just one unit of charge gauge.

Melee system feels the same as DUO. Since DUO introduced M+S melee, the melee system switched to a RPS-based counter system, which is still in place in 2. What is new is building power gauge by bullet-cancelling with M+S melee. I think that's a good change.

The way blocking works in 2 is similar to how it was in DUO. Barrier doesn't drain gauge over time in either game, just drains on hit. The only difference is that in 2 you take no damage from normal shots while in barrier.

Using barrage with less than 1 gauge is nothing new. That was already in DUO.

Fabian was also good in DUO, and he doesn't feel very different in 2.

The g.rev blog mentions melee having increased tracking and cancellability, think its noticable in the trial. For example try dashing away from a Fabian doing subweapon melee. Baiting out melee with dashes wont be as abusable if the melee tracking/hitconfirm situations are better.

Welp I forgot a lot of stuff about DUO. Charge is super valuable so I cant see people just ignoring the items, it's going to force some actions.

There's no need to dash away from an opponent's melee attack when you can just stand still and counter it.

I don't see those melee changes having much of an effect in competitive play. Since DUO introduced RPS melee countering, everyone already avoided getting into melee range most of the time, and this isn't going to make skilled players want to get closer.

I suppose that was part of the reason why they introduced charge items, but like I said, it's still easy to pick up lots of charge items even if you don't really try to.

Received by whom? It's great for fans of virtual on, heavy metal geomatrix, psychic force and other "arena fightings" which... never found too much love among people.

Most online critics don't have the patience to learn a game as unorthodox as Senko. On top of that, PvP is where most of the fun is to be found, so it's even more difficult to enjoy if there's no decent competition to play with.

I preordered mine from Play-Asia, but Limited Run will apparently be releasing a physical release, too.
