If bosses last long you´re doing something seriously wrong.

I agree that the first few stages are a bit boring, but it gets a lot more fun once you get to play around with the missiles.
And of course the 2nd loop is fun times.

An enemy came from behind the screen and killed me. Gay.
Stages: 3-4 mins
Bosses: 10-20 secs
I think there's something wrong there.

I find it funny that Thanuris, Zengeku and Jaimers' avatar's look like they're reflecting the tone of their latest posts.

Thanuris looks mildly annoyed with what's going on, Zengeku is like a small child who hasn't figured out search shot is awful, and Jaimers is angry about boss complaints.

LOL

My only opinion at this point is that the stage 3 boss is annoying as hell, and keeps taking my lives when it really never ever should.

That's pretty spot on lol. Though I'd say Jaimers avatar always gives me more an impression of surprise than anger but okay.

So I should be using missiles then? Let's try that out later on. Still won't solve my speed issue so I probably still won't it past Stage 4 but at if the bosses at least die quicker then I might be able to kill the Stage 4 boss before some random too fast ship to dodge things pattern get's me.

That is pretty much how I'm feeling too. There isn't anything to do during the stages either to improve your score in any meaningful way and it doesn't make the game any better if the later stages are better if I can't get there because I've fallen asleep before reaching those stages... :p

I should say this is rather typical of Toaplan and many other developers of that era. The trend pretty much died by mid-90s.

Okay so I can't even properly dodge Stage 3 now. This game has ugly graphics, hideous sound and is just not very fun. Eye rape, ear rape and soul rape.
Stages are boring while still killing me more than DOJBL's 2nd loop at high rank.

All the weapon types sucks for one reason or the other:

Shot because I've always hated options that move based on your movement instead of just being in a fixed position close to your ship.
Search because it's weak as hell.
Missiles because it reminds me of MarisaA in Mountain of Faith. A shot type I also really hated.

Heh. It's infinitely more fun to talk shit about this game than actually playing it. Now let's go play something that isn't a remnant from an ancient time.

Thanks for the heads-up. Will have to be careful about playing something older than DDP in the future.

Ok, if bomber code is giving different bonus/point values then I would agree it cannot be used in the tournament. Thanks Despatche and sikraiken.

dex, can you please update the first post appropriately?

If only it was full of prepubescent girls, I'm sure those criticisms would be forgotten in a second.

Hell no. I'd just ignore the game and look up porn and fan videos on Youtube of it like any average Touhou fan does. :P

Also. I like Ketsui, DOJ and Crimzon Clover for example. Either I like these games because I find them fun and without all those issues I mentioned earlier or maybe there's just lolis somewhere.

Shots? They all feature simple shots that fire straight forward and with the option of moving at a slower pace for precise dodges.
Graphics? They all feature much better graphics where it's easy to tell what is what. Especially Crimzon Clover.
Sound? Awesome soundtracks and soundeffects that doesn't sound like your speakers are broken are nice too.
Gameplay? Varied and well paced stages and all with complex and to a lot of people compelling score systems. Cool boss battles too with challenging and interesting patterns.

In those three games, I don't see any lolis at all outside of the element dolls in DOJ but that's not worth mentioning since I'm there for the game and the lolis are nowhere to be seen during the game. I just needed to point out that loli's are not a requirement for my enjoyment of an STG.

Replay drama was a lot more fun than this stupid discussion - it was also stupid, but at least both sides had a point instead of "this sucks" vs "no this sucks".

Well this score is a bit less pathetic than my previous entry, but it still needs work. For some reason this week isn't going as well for me as I thought it would. Not quite used to milking the 1-3 boss yet so I died a couple times there. On the bright side, competition doesn't seem very strong this week. Highest I see so far is a 19m from Jaimers - I'm a bit worried about that Naut guy though, I heard he's really good at this game.`
Hey, no posting scores of this godly game in a V-V thread.

Come on, this is getting ridiculous, you're all giving reason for Paradigm to be an ass over at the other thread. If you people are in STGT for CAVE week and CAVE week only - and it seems to be the case - why take part anyway? Go play your CAVE (and Touhou and whatever else) games and enjoy yourselves instead of acting like babies because you don't like the game of the week. Or just skip the week completely and come back later. Or do like a lot of people do and at least pretend to put a half-effort before saying, "look, this is as far as I'll tolerate the game, don't expect much more" and be done with it. But don't make a fuckin' scene. Pathetic.

Surely everyone knows what they're getting in to when they sign up for STGT so why all the tears when a game somebody doesn't like gets picked?

This isn't the high score forum, you don't always get to play the games you like or the games you're good at. If you're not willing to play, don't register.

I really don't like complaining about STGT games and have made a point to avoid doing so in the past, but I can't think of any game I've ever had a harder time motivating myself to play than this.

I love Toaplan but their games are not something I ever want to have to take seriously at all. Practicing this game feels like nothing but constantly wasting time. Last week all I wanted to do was get home and rock some S99 and shoot for the second loop, I managed to hit my goals and I never felt discouraged or had trouble pushing myself to work on it.

This week is just...awful, there is absolutely nothing fun about this game at all. I've been playing this one just about as much as I was playing S99, and I intend to continue giving it a legit effort for the remainder of the week, but I'm hating every moment of it.
