It's the reason why I avoided Last Exile like the plague: the loli and the kid pilot on the front cover.

I watched Last Exile ripped off DTV (still arguably the best looking version) before DVDs hit the local stores and I still don't know where are any lolis in it.

I stopped watching Honey & Clover when the 10yr girl (who is really 18, yeah right) started getting more and more screentime and the 20+yr guys were actually falling in love and trying to win her over.

It looks stupid and uninteresting with the animoe/loli thrown in 8)

Damn, I actually have "Honey And Clover," but haven't gotten around to watching them yet since I'm still watching Nana and the occasional episode of "Sgt. Frog" and Crayon Shin-chan

You searched for that pic quite thoroughly, admit it. From the looks of it I wouldn't have guessed for shit it has anything to do with Last Exile (and I did browse through the official artbooks).

Hahaha. Wow, it took you that much? I only did two image searches on Google: one for "last exile" and another for "lastexile." It's there, on page 4 of images. Easy. Now try doing an image search for the chara designer's name and you'll end up in loli central (with that same image on page 3).

As I've said before, I prefer moe as done by Urushihara or Katsura 8)

  • 1. You stated it must've taken a "thorough" search to find the image. It didn't.
  • 2. You stated you had to go through some art books or some s***. I wrote that it took all of two image searches.
  • 3. Do you want me to clock the time it took me to do this as well?
Um, how else would I find them and post them here? By osmosis? "Wow," indeed. Anyway, the show does have loli/moe in it, unlike what you wrote before.

The Last Exile artbooks are mighty fine, and I browsed through those (years ago) because I liked the show I actually, you know, watched.

Exactly. I chose to not watch this because I didn't like the characters on the posters, DVD covers, etc, etc, etc. It looks like something I wouldn't like from, you know, having watched other shows with similar characteristic(s) (i.e., lolis thrown into a show for the sake of throwing loli into a show, kids piloting air/spacecrafts, kids who are soldiers, and such).

In other words, if it looks like this, then I will not like it:

You've made four posts about how you hate Last Exile. We. Get. It.

Methinks the gentlemen protests too much...

Not really into anime myself, but I did see Paprika yesterday and it was really nice. Would recommend.

If you liked Paprika, you should consider checking out Satoshi Kon's other works (Perfect Blue, Tokyo Godfathers, Millennium Actress, Paranoia Agent (TV series)), because that was his weakest effort. It was still good though, just saying.

This is paydirt, right here. From his opus, I loved Perfect Blue the best since it also kept in line with my penchant for enjoying thrilling suspense stories. It smacked of early 80s Brian DePalma (e.g., Body Double and Dressed To Kill) and Italian Gialli (a la Sergio Martino's Lo Stranho Vizio Della Signora Wardh) 8)

You should check out Kanon when you finish Clannad. Made by the same people and I think it's even better.

I actually tried Paprika and Paranoia Agent, but didn't care for them. But I really liked Perfect Blue.

Admittedly, Range's designs are well done. I just don't dig the combination of the characters and settings. Think of it this way, if you were watching a live action film, say Starship Troopers or Sky Captain, wouldn't it look really out of place if Dakota Fanning was cast as one of the soldiers or pilots? 8)

No more than Angelina Jolie did. Ditto every movie Angie has been in ever. I wonder if Hermione Granger counts as Western moe.

Last time I checked it was a moe thread, but man, do THOSE threads get progressively moronic... The next one will likely cause a forum crash.
