I will wait for an Xbox 360 port.

the 360 has an ATI graphics chip called 'Xenos' that is far beyond the Radeon 9200 in Raiden III's version of TYPE X, and probably still much more powerful than any other Radeon chip that is likely to find its way into other incarnations of TYPE X. Also, of course, Xbox 360's CPU is far, far beyond the Intel Celerons that TYPE X uses. so I would feel bad about dropping so much money on a single PCB.

I really cannot wait to see shmups on the new generation of consoles ^__^

sure its a 9200 or is that just an assumption? type x can pretty much take the latest ati cards as well. it can also use 3+ ghz p4. no clue what chip the raiden 3 kit uses though. theres another issue with the 360 cpu using stripped down cpu cores, doesnt necessarily make them more powerful than the high end type x cpus.

Icarus wrote:While I have no issue with that review in general (well written and informative), I'd like to mention that Raizing was made up of ex-Toaplan developers, not ex-Compile. (Although some Compile probably sneaked in...)
Most of them, to be exact. Only Shinobu Yagawa and ( i think) Yasunari Watanabe are ex-Toaplan (Yasunari Watanabe might have worked at Taito, too). Mahou trilogy and Sokyugurentai are by a group of mainly ex-Compile people. Brave Blade...dunno, maybe some newbies, i can't trace the names.

That's why Ibara= fourth Bat- shmup, Yagawa (only) worked on the other three, and that's why i keep saying that they can change name to Toaplan, again. Ah, Megaten Hosoe and Sasou Ayako are ex-Namco, Megaten did the Dragon spirit and Saber OSTs, Ayako did Rolling Thunder 2.

Have you guys made a site or document containing names of these developers and the games they have worked on? Like what SF Kosmo has done for Treasure.

man just watched some of rfk's videos. raiden looks unplayably hard for my skill-set. ibara just looks flat out awesome. if i ever get to play (own? :D) someone remind me to do a happy dance.

being granted a "Strategic Withdrawal" for boss timeout is priceless.
I have no sig whatsoever.

good vids, i'm now more interested in raiden 3 than ibara. it looks like a blast to play, i like how the bomb now grants instantaneous invicibility, and the boss patterns are good and a mix of raiden 2 and rf's. plus the stages seem well designed too and you're attacked in a typical raiden way (trapping you in the corners, kamikaze helis). there are even little enemies during some boss battles! too bad the third weapon doesn't lock.
had the graphics been sprites, it could have been perfect even if it's a little early to say, let's hope the port isn't shit like gwg.
on the other hand, ibara doesn't look like that much fun (plus the rank horror stories) and is it me or the music is poor for a cave game?
we'll see.

i think some guys on clicks board were saying the rank isnt too bad, so i dont know what to think. i never played raizings older games enough to really notice, i just couldnt get past the whole 'cant see bullets worth a damn' thing.

i havent seen the videos in a while, but iirc it was like butt rock wasnt it? i was glad to hear that myself, but all opinion of course. im a ddp > doj music type of person. not that i hate the recent stuff, but more variety in the type of music is nice (i want a dangun 2 dammit!).

Dont worry guys, this rank system is not that horrible as you expect. After more then two dozens of runs, I could hardly say I feel this rank system. This game is overloaded with secrets and nice explosions, you can hardly concentrate on whats going on. Thats why you often been hit by bullets you didnt see.

We didnt check the score system or any of the secrets yet, but we know that some JAP Players will of course to anything to reveal all this, and then we know whats going on :)

But the medal system is far harder then any Raiden Fighter to master.

oh i agree in fact i used to listen only metal (side note i would say dp>ddp>doj). i don't know what butt rock is but it doesn't sound like any kind of rock, more like random notes, but maybe that's because of the recording.

Have you read the postings DEF...most of the players think that Raiden 3 is much better than Ibara.

And i must confess...those people are damn right !
:D :D

Die Cavefanboys...DIE !

I am not sure if it was a very good idea to release a Raizing game under the logo of cave. Ibara has nothing to do with a cave game title.

Dont get me wrong. I think Ibara is one of the best shooters at the moment. It has superior graphics and many great ideas (especially the smartbomb feature is very interesting). But if you make one mistake its game over, you dont have the chance to dodge the bullets of the bosses if they get into the angry mode.
8)

Many players have mentioned the poor visibilty of the bullets.

Thats BULLSHIT ! I dont have a problem to see any of the bullets, the problem is to dodge those bastards.

Yeah! RFK is right! While watching the replays I noticed the majority (if not all?) of the bullets were a nice bright purple (nods to CAVE). Yes, they are pretty narrow and they are on a mission to kill you (duh), but I don't believe there are any "gray/grayish" bullets like Garegga. Am I wrong here? Maybe I need to go watch ALL the stage videos again! 8)
