I'm glad they let you play with the original assets. I feel like it's important to bring the game over as it was, in addition to whatever else they tack on top.

Here are some interesting facts about Radiant Silvergun XBLA:

http://www.trueachievements.com/n4260/t ... etails.htm

The most interesting maybe that you need to have Ikaruga XBLA to unlock the Ikaruga mode in RSG.

Price is said to be 1200 msp.

I've said this on FB, Twitter, and TV Tropes already, but...

TREASURE. OH MY FUCKING GOD. YOU ARE RETARDED.

Never mind people who didn't buy the XBLA version because they already have one of the older ports or the good ol' Naomi hardware. Or people who simply don't like Ikaruga. I mean yes I don't like Ikaruga chaining but it's nothing compared to RSG's.

Unlocking content you've paid for by spending more money. They'll be making MMOs next. ;)

Yeah, that's a shit gimmick there. Better just have it as a 400 MSP DLC rather than make you buy a 1200 MSP game.

You could easily get around it by taking your game + profile to a friends console who owns the game. It could be worse. Imagine if they required that you have the 1CC achievement from Ikaruga? Still, IMO Ikaruga is worth 800MSP just to be able to watch some of the crazy replays. Even if you hate the game it's still amazing game to watch. A hell of a lot cheaper than the replay DVD.

Sounds moderately bad to me. Say, to play Kunoichi/Nightashade as Hotsuma from Shinobi (PS2), you need an all clear Shinobi savestate (of course you can just use somebody else's one). To play the most out of The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons, you need both. At least they want you to buy some playable content if you want to get more playable content. Compared to bullshit one had to put up with to play Phantasy Star Online on GameCube, or Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles in co-op on one TV, this here deal isn't too bad.
There should be some new Ikaruga content as a reward for owning RSG, though.

I thought this was a cool unlockable bonus.. almost more of an easter egg for fans than a moneymaking venture... but no, apparantly ITS AN EVIL SCAM

Guys, Ikaruga XBLA is $10... come on

Can you obtain achievements from game trials?

I don't know if Ikaruga has one, but I imagine the trial is just the first stage, which gives you an achievement for completing it.

'Fraid not - if you activate one during a demo you get a "congratulations, unlock the full game to keep this achievement!" message.

That's beside the point, chap. If you were in some dodgy café and paid £2 for some tea or coffee, but were told that it'd be £1 extra for the milk, you'd think you were dealing with a bunch of cunts, nein? If 'Ikaruga mode' is only intended as a curiosity for people who own both games, it shouldn't be bulletined as a main attraction.

(I already have the XBLAH version of Ikaruga, so it makes no difference to me.)

You don't need to have the game... you just need to unlock a cheevo from Ikaruga to unlock Ikaruga Mode. You can always play the game on somebody else's console with your gamertag. At least Treasure have decided to mention it again. So this release of RSG will contain 3 modes total.

Did I just read "cheevo"?

I'm boycotting anything Treasure until they give me Ikaruga mode for free, I'll write them countless emails explaining how I imported yu yu hakusho on MD as a kid and deserve better than this.

bad analogy that doesn't fit.

Of course - just prodding the hornets' nest. As far as I'm aware, these features haven't yet been advertised per se (though the trailer calls the Ikaruga mode a 'secret'). Hopefully there won't be anything misleading when the game hits XBLA.

Not here, but enough of my boozeposts. Is it likely that this'll be released during the "Summer Of Arcade" month? I noticed it wasn't among the games shown off in the promotional video, but I've no idea whether or not that was an exhaustive presentation.

I was expecting it to be part of the Summer of Arcade promotion. I guess Microsoft don't want to steal anyones thunder during the campaign this year. I expect we'll either see it just before or shortly after the promotion. I'll be pissed off if they've put it back to the Autumn/Winter.

It'd be a shame, aye. I'm looking forward to it mainly because it'll be the one shooter that actually stirs up some competition between my friends. Well, unless they're massively disappointed when they realise it's an unapologetic memoriser. :P

Well, I beat your Ikaruga high score the other day, so there's something for you to chase!

With the risk of falling back into the price debate - Summer of Arcade would definitely explain the 1200msp price tag - My guess is that's what they are doing.

Haha, ace! I hardly ever play it, but I'll have a go. Currently gunning for your score on R-Type in Classic Mode, as it happens! I thought I'd single-credited it a few times in 2009, but apparently not.

I only started playing Ikaruga again to beat your high score. My GameCube score is significantly higher but I find the XBLA version harder, probably due to the dpad (I use a Hori pad on the GameCube).

I'll tell you what would be a nice feature for them to add to XBox Live - an optional per-game notification feature whereby you're automatically notified (by XBox Live message or email) if a friend beats one of your high scores.

I'm pretty sure the summer of arcade lineup is already fully announced, and Radiant Silvergun definitely isn't one of the titles.

Edit: the titles are Bastion, Toy soldiers, insanely twisted shadow planet, From Dust and Fruit Ninja Kinect.

So the 1200 price is nothing to do with the summer of arcade promotion, it's just the legitimate practice of milking us for all we are willing to pay.
To go "full-Plank" - colloquial - To experience disproportionate levels of frustration as a result of resistance to completing a task. Those who go "full-Plank" very rarely recover.

The ST-V and Saturn version being expensive probably made them choose the highest price. The game is bastard hard and ain't all that great imo. If it were a full price title it'd be in the bargain bin a week after release.
