Yep. I found the second game in the series (Koumajou Densetu II: Stranger's Requiem) to be rather fun (normal is a bit too easy, hard will make your average player work for their victory). Also has some nice character art:

I once saw a preview for that Shiki game, it was being called Shikigami 3 for the PS2, I think they were considering localizing it, or it might have still be a Japanese preview they were covering in English. It had story segments where dialog choices affected the stages, and boss fights. This is a different game than the third that was released a few years ago, right?

Sorry, I've lost the name of the artist.. My pc just got Ebola, has crashed and bled out.. Need to reinstall later and start from scratch.. I'm really only losing image files, and a few downloads.. Gonna need to set up a new mame set, etc.. Live and learn I guess.

Koumajou Densetsu II's character portraits are fantastic... the characters' sprites are very nice too. It's a shame the game is full of those crappy fairies, they're a drag. It also has some badass Castlevania-esque monsters, but they can feel like the minority at times.
