I can vouch for this also. :|

Too bad it wasn't region free like almost all of the other games EA/DICE has released.
Yeah, I usually have luck with them until recently. Even Fifa 2012 didn't work for me which was a huge surprise.

Right, this is getting a bit weird. It seems that lots of publishers who used to release their games region free have suddenly started locking them. Not a good sign at all. Anyone care to guess why this is happening? What makes it such a kick in the teeth is that it's obvious from people contributing to this list that we want to buy domestic games from physical game shops, and publishers are only shooting themselves in the foot by region locking them. I would have bought Dark Souls and Shadows of the Damned on day one for full price had it not been for the fact they are region locked. Grrrrr.

ANWAY, Ghegs has very kindly offered to edit the first post to shove everything in alphabetical order, and I have endeavoured to keep everything in alphabetical order from now on. So please, if you can confirm with your own eyes that a PAL or NTSC-U Xbox 360 game does, or does not work on a Japanese Xbox 360, please add it to the list!

Well, yes, I of course will. But it's obviously so much better to go into a game shop and pull something off the shelf. Impulsively. I hate the act of buying something off the internet. Most of the time when I receive it I'm not in the mood any more. Plus there's the issue of SURPRISE import tax. I also want to support those taking the risk to publish these games in the UK, which is why it's particularly vexing when Rising Star continually lock out NTSC-J consoles.

Oh, I forgot about the import tax in parts of Europe.

Well, Dark Souls is a unique case. There's no Japanese 360 version in existence, so even being able to play the game on an NTSC-J console to begin with should be reason enough to buy.

Play Asia states the Asian and American versions are region free.

I'm almost certain the PAL version will be region free too but I would have also said that about GoW 3 :|

The following PAL games do not on a NTSC-J:
BlazBlue Continuum Shift
Dark Souls
Dead Rising
Ninja Gaiden Black (GoD)

Dead Rising is on the list as working, but it definitely doesn't work with the german/austrian version.

PAL Sonic Unleashed does NOT work on a Japanese system.
US Fallout: New Vegas does NOT work on a Japanese system.

Handy thread, please keep it going!
So, are we expected to turn our TV on its side?!

Oh, Dead Rising PAL will not run on a JP system, it was only on the list for so long because I am a proper twonk. Has now been updated, only two years after the initial error was made.

Just thought i'd contribute to this great thread the PAL version of Bulletstorm works on a Japanese Xbox 360 and it's not a bad game which you you can get quite cheap now aswell. Also Call Of Duty : Modern Warfare 3 works which has already been said I will be trying out other games from my collection in the long run. :)

I have the 360 version of Syndicate sitting in front of me, but I'm afraid to open it after what happened with Battlefield 3...

Has anyone tried it yet?

Edit : Just tried it. The US version will play on a Japanese 360.

Well, much to my dismay, the US version of Blazblue CS Extend will not work on a J360 :/ despite the fact that the original CS did. No idea why the change.
