What is the AUTO healing?
I think you only get fasta after a certain level (should be the third spell listed for the hero when you get it, though). The middle character and the blond girl get healing spells as their first spell that can be used on the map and the Hero's first spell is "warp", which allows you to warp to places already visited.

The auto feature is for automatic battles. Basically, it lets the computer choose the actions during battle for you. I think it's the bottom right option during battles, if I remember correctly. Edit: doh, I should have looked that up. Ed Oscuro is correct. I never used auto.

However, this is going by the US release, so I don't know if anything was switched around.

To quickly explain "AUTO healing:"

When you've engaged autopilot fighting (described again by BrianC here, it's the bottom right option on the fight HUD / menu, as I said before), characters 2 and 3 will automatically use the weakest heal spell if a character gets hit to a certain point. It's dangerous to rely on this in tough battles because some enemies could hit you for more than that spell, plus the slim amount of HP remaining. When the HP remaining goes very low, it's best to quit AUTO mode (by pressing B) and heal with a better spell manually.

At the level you're at, it's best to use the magic reserves of characters 2 and 3 to heal.

FASTA should show up at a fairly early level, but if you're at level 5 or something, you might not have it (I'd expect you to get destroyed out in the wasteland at this point, frankly).

Anyhow, I'll shortly boot my DS and check over all these screens for ya, maybe I'll draw some MSPaint pics of the menus and stuff.

Thanks everone, I am getting better at the fourth challenge, since I am learning more of how to assign items and healing. during battles. I have spent more time then ever on floor three. BTW, my group are all at level 19.

Hooray! And remember this important tip, straight out of Konami's Super Castlevania IV:

Finally!

5,720,200 in Star Prince!

Kind of a crap play so 6mil is readily possible. I only had two ships (wtf, started stage 2-4 with 7) so I didn't get much of a end-game bonus. I didn't try to stretch them with bullet canceling suicides either.

Nice job Ed ! So could you get 1.5 mil bonus to occur twice ?

Ohoh ! Quite a trick it is. Me so stupid just did not try this, kept shooting into the void like "where's the million, where is it ??!??"

I'll try and compete with your score now.

lol.

The racing game is intentionally bad, and the second shovelware racing game is intentionally worse. :)

The others are fun, though.

Is anyone here playing GCCX2? If so do you know what the "challenges" are for Super Demon Returns?

Thanks in advance....

Hey Ed,

That above listed ad for the Neo-Geo AES was taken from an old issue of Video Games and Computer Entertainment magazine back in 1990. Upon walking into Software Etc. and Babbages speciality video game stores back in the early 1990s, the prices for a brand new AES console or even a brand new AES game was fucking expensive. Might as well have shit some gold bricks to afford it. I passed up on them but eventually had to settle for the cheap-ass MVS carts to play my favorite Neo-Geo games...wouldn't have it any other way. ^_~

Hey, I broke the 6 mil. barrier :)

Star Prince
6,402,100 - Nils

Got all the PRINCE-letters and 1Ups, I think, but very few technical boni, as I was using P-shot most of the time. Might go for the missile next time. But made some nice spark shot - power up- kills, especially with those splitting enemies. Hard to do that with M-shot.
I died maybe 4 times, mostly when heading for PRINCE-letters, I believe :( And that ripped me of the 50,000 boni for staying with one power-up, too.
End bonus was 700,000 (14 lives left) - i did not go for life sacrificing, even though you can get 120,000+ pts just prior to the stage 4 boss - it is just to risky imo. When approaching those end of level scenes without a power up (after willingly losing a life), I die 2 in 3 times w/o getting the bonus. So there's no sense in that for me. But all that means you could easily break the 7 million mark, maybe even 8.

As for the Score Attack version in Game Center CX 2:

3 min - 677,600
5 min - 1,040,000

Note that in this version, the "space section" at the end of levels gets you more points (i got at least 150,000 in area 1 once).

star prince

7,030,800 - Nils

End bonus was 950,000. Seems like I'll seriously have to go for life saccing and thus 8 million now. But I'm getting kind of bored with Star Prince.

I heard the first one didn't sell enough and they abandoned all translation plans to bring it west.

Apologies for digging up an old thread here, but I've been playing a copy of this I picked up recently quite a bit lately (makes a good game for relatively short bus rides,) and finding myself a bit curious about the Japan-only sequel. First of all, how import-friendly is it? Chances are if I could find a used copy that's already got everything unlocked I'd probably just stick to freeplay mode, and from Youtube videos that seems pretty reasonable. Second of all, what's a reasonable price for it? eBay copies seem a bit on the expensive side.

The second game's text adventure would be much more fun if I could understand the text - but then still not terribly fun. There are a couple step-by-step guides to beating the two installments (two disks!) of Detective Arino; God help you if you lose your place.

Beyond that it's pretty smooth sailing really. There are some nice games in there. The "daily challenges" were just a time sink, unfortunately, and many are ridiculous in their requirements when you have accomplished a heavy amount (like half a year's worth, I think), but others remain simple (i.e. "collect this many 1ups or whatevers" in Demon Returns, which is just mindless grinding). They did help me learn the games better, of course.

There are altered versions of some of the original title's games to be played, like an MSX-ified version of the slide shooter game by Tomato.

Star Prince already was looking promising as a caravan-style game from the original release, so they went ahead and did it. I don't think it really stands out amongst other caravan games, though. Super Star Shooter, which we played in STGT, was a classic caravan-style game in the Soldier Blade (and to some degree Tekhan's Star Force, maybe GunHed as well) mold. Star Prince is just Star Prince. On top of that, using the powerups as bombs is far too finicky to be able to do reliably - your score will be highly determined by how many bullets you can cancel at once with a bomb, and keeping a bomb on-screen is itself determined by some other annoying stuff.

I think most (or possibly even all) of the original RGC's games made it over to Arino no Chousenjo II, although in altered formats. The new games are mostly not too shabby but even a full playthrough of Super Demon Returns didn't really hold my interest too long (sure I could have gone for a higher score, I suppose, but I already spent a lot of time collecting the DEMON letters for some exceedingly minor payoff).

Super Star Shooter is a pretty blantant clone of Super Star Soldier's Caravan mode.
