I think those sales numbers are about accurate, and I think most people who brought the games gave it a brief play and put it down for good. There’s certainly not a lot of active interest in THE or Ikaruga going by the high-score tables - I ranked absurdly high with my first play on both and the weekly high score tables take noticeable time to fill. There are many reasons why these score-tables are not an accurate measure of who's playing, but they are ultimately desolate compared to Dark Mist and Super Stardust HD tables on PSN - adding more to the mystery why 5pb didn’t just go to Sony where this stuff is appreciated more.
And casual games also make a crapload of money because their teams are small and their mechanics are simple, so they can be produced fast and it doesn’t take much to pull a profit. It doesn’t matter if casual players devote themselves to a few titles because there are millions of them. The current market is like a zombie film, with casuals flooding the streets looking for brains or lines of 3 coloured jewels, and a few hardcore players hauled up in a building somewhere, bracing the doors while down the corridor they hear “WE’VE BEEN BREACHED" cut short by a scream and gurgling sound.

The relative success of those two PSN games is arguably down to the lack of any other (exclusive) quality content on the format. For all that it's attacked by people for the large number of card/crossword/puzzle games, XBLA does have a fair number of decent titles available, far more than the PS3's download service, and that's inevitably going to lead to those games that don't receive lots of marketing spend getting pushed out of sight.

Uh... wasn't it just announced a couple of months ago?

SCUM.
If I ever see or meet this guy I'm gonna punch him in the face. How the hell can he justify this, considering XBL has a good number of 2-D games that look and play like scat? Cave makes high-quality shooters with cool themes. Why not? What the fuck?
Man, if Cave were to ever make shooters on more powerful hardware in HD...just the thought...

Well, I can see about more than 0 players who bought this game:I think those sales numbers are about accurate, and I think most people who brought the games gave it a brief play and put it down for good.

This means that other numbers are bullshit too.
Casuals are crazy - look at comments for Deathsmiles port news! If you will pay IGN, Gamespot and other casual corrupted site you can sell any game like a hot cakes! And when I started a thread about Cave on some site they just "Wtf is this game?" "Who is Cave?" and "we dont need this". And now they post on Kotaku that this games are awesome.
Is this a Famitsu scan???
