Yeah, I just can't really play that game. I can play other games for survival or without worrying too much about score, but with Ikaruga, I just can't do it. And I'm not good enough to play that game for score beyond the first level.

You should be looking backwards then.
Yes, Deathsmiles and Dodonpachi Daifukkatsu both lack power ups. You start off at full power and never drop.

Shit, I had no idea. So, uh, anyone knows when these games will be ported to the PS2?

The stage 1-3 boss in RSG for me. It takes too long to beat. Also, it kills me a lot. Think 30 credits worth of lives for me [I hate putting in more than one credit, so I don't fire up RSG much because I WILL die on Xiga].

edit: Whoops, I forgot my RSG boss names, it's NOT Xiga...
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

Deathsmiles is allready planned to be ported to the 360.

DFK probabally won't get a port for who knows how long. I'd guess a couple years at least.

Haha, wow, didn´t notice that at all (maybe because I only watched footage). I also like Mushi Arrange for that reason, and that you can switch between the three shot (and speed) types. Gives it a very powerful feeling.

Espgaluda II and all the Mushi Futaris have a system that's in between the two extremes- you still have power ups to collect, but you don't have to recollect them when you die, and you don't lose one level of power after a death (as you do in earlier CAVE games, like Ketsui).

Haha yeah I know. I'm one of the people to soon buy a Japanese Xbox just for Ketsui and Death Smiles. It's totally true what they say, irony doesn't translate well over the internet. Thanks anyway.

Huh. I always thought of the little girls as the downside to the touhou games. I got into Shanghai Alice off the shoulders of Kenta Cho, so I just treated the little girls like another abstract shape standing in for the boss monster.

The "twist" at the end ruined RefleX for me (OMG SPOILERZ STOP READING!) Yes, a RefleX ship with a broken unlimited shield is superior to a Kamui when facing a boss with a broken unlimited screen-filling beam. Kamui is still the better game.

Stage 6 and 7 make me rage so hard in Gradius V. I love the game and I've gotten a little used to the asteroid boss, but the 2 final stages are ridiculous. The green fluid falling everywhere and the backwards section on stage 6 is just unbelievable, I didn't know Treasure could hate their buyers so much.

plus the music for stage 7 is totally fucking awesome so i wouldn't mind

normally i wouldn't care about a stage being this bad but not even practice mode is helping much on 6 :x
Aye Stage 7 music is awesome, Gradius V is one of my fav shooters, such fantastic graphics and audio, and audio is a great seller for me when playing shmups.

Really, the fact that I have trouble figuring out the timing for the shifts in Ikaruga ruined that for me.

Well... that and the whole "Treasure style" that they can't keep in check enough to make a really good game.

Blast Works tying the Kenta Cho unlocks into Campaign completion and then making the campaign ridiculously difficult with a tiny amount of lives broke it for me.
