Ikaruga is awesome but sucks compared to Radiant Silvergun

Better boss battles, yeah, but the chaining system is much more limited. It would have been much better if they did something with color mixing on the chaining instead of one color at a time. God knows how many enemies you have to miss to score well.

Yeah, even as enemy chaining goes it seems second rate. As much as I didn't enjoy Ikaruga's scoring, it had some really tricky/cool looking chains.

to score well you have to shoot only one kind of enemy which basically turns it into a game of frogger regarding the other two enemy colors.

i understand if it was like a puzzle game or something where multiple blocks of the same color give exponential bonuses but it doesn't work here and i don't think puzzle games force you to go after one specific color for an entire round

yeah i must not have. jesus what am i thinking? you know you've just convinced me that radiant silvergun isa poorly constructed shmup. thank you without you i would have never realized the error of my ways. i guess i'll go play some cave games so i can play a better mechanized game where i just shoot a bunch of shit on the screen while trying to dodge a blanket of bullets with my tiny hitbox so i can feel im actually acomplishing something.

I was agreeing with Acid King's post, those reasons. The funny thing about RSG for me: tying power levels to scoring seems like a pretty confident move on their part regarding the scoring system... and it's half-assed. The chains seem absolutely dull next to Ikaruga, a lot of the sections are very short, enemies are designed to slip by. By Ikaruga they completely embraced enemy chaining.

Or, it's second rate because Zanac Neo is better.
