didn't quite beat my score, but glad my last few days of shit playing seem to be behind me.

got the loop on my first run, and despite carrying an extra life into the 2nd loop, it was gameover by the time i got to the 2-1 boss

anyways, thought i'd credit-feed through the 2nd loop to practice it. it's certainly interesting, and the vids don't do it justice! if you think the nail bullets of the stage 2 boss are tough, on the 2nd loop, it's just crazy. however, when i died on the first midboss of stage 5, it automatically gave me the GAMEOVER screen, with no option to continue! this was on my sixth credit. so i'm thinking maybe you cannot continue when you reach 2-5...at all.

i love this black label btw.. people usually shun it because its not different enough but i have to say that they changed all the right things to make DOJ a much much more enjoyable game!

ed: heres the score, so pissed about it cause i fucked up royally on the gauntlet of stage 2, would have easily been another 15-20mil if i hadent DIED as soon as i activated the hypers

ah well.. made it past the beehive on stage 5 atleast and somehow managed to miss one of the small "bits" the fireballboss shoots out and it sniped me from behind (i had 2bombs and a hyper in stock at the time too), would have easily made it to the last boss if not.

i was saying to gp the other day, i had a 287m 2-2 score, and only dropped two lives on the first loop (fucking fluke!). when you start entering the 2nd loop, it is quite some difference.

have you tried hibachi yet?

oh, and i was right - you cannot insert another credit when you reach 2-5

btw how does the bomb multiplier work in this game? its not x2 - x3 etc as in regular DDP is it?

it looks more like +2 - +3 etc, does it add to the hitcounter or something?

if you collect a bomb while already having a full bomb gauge the multiplier will be increased to 2x.
For each further bomb, you collect, the multiplier increases by one (3x, 4x, 5x...), until you die or bomb once.

It means you score (for each enemy) will be doubled, tripled etc.. yes, for hard-core scoring it is pretty shameful to bomb, unless you wanna drop the rank.

oh ffs!!

so damn close to 100mil.. great proof that a high chain means nothing compared to keeping a chain alive, managed to keep this chain going almost all the way thru stage 2 with the aid of a hyper at the start of the stage and at the midboss, ended the stage with 62mil which is a personal best by about 30mil for me

actually thought i was gonna 1cred it this time but completely choked on 3rd boss/4th stage

also ive fallen for A-L and thats proboably the ship ill be using from now on.. its almost raizing-fast! i love it!

too right, i only used 1 bomb on that run, what a waste

and yeah i do indeed have a bitter taste in my mouth

good to see someone playing with Leinyan.
I actually love her patterns (B-L °_°) but the fact, that you'll lose almost all your power ups when dying makes her a pain to play, even if you can have up to 4 or 5 bombs.

finally got the 100 mil

pretty decent run actually, 1 lifed up to halfway thru stage 4 (did bomb once on 3rd boss tho), messed up stage 4 a bit, missed ALOT of points by dying away 2 hypers on the 4th boss

finally ended the run on the decent to the last boss in stage 5...

that last mil was on pure willpower alone, a shame really since i might have done a little better if i hadent been so anxious to get those last digits in

thanx btw, feels great to have one of my goals with this game achieved, now i just gotta get the 1CC in aswell and i can die a happy man, DDP DOJ is no cakewalk so it will definetly be a triumph to be proud of imo.

if you're getting to the point where you're reaching stage 4 with no deaths and only using 1 bomb, that's good going! i always bomb the last form of stage 3 boss just to preserve lives. and for the 1 loop clear: go for it!!!

In Black Label, several enemy-squadrons appear in shorter intervalls, like in the stage 3 midboss scene.

This feature in doj bl makes it a lot easier to hold your chain, and you have more liberty referring to strats.

I know the bullet hitboxes are also smaller than they look, but even still the hitboxes FEEL just a HAIR smaller than that.

for a danmaku shooter doj (and also ddp) has a prtty big hitbox in a comparison.
Though, later you will see the hitbox isnt THAT big, and you still can evade yousrself thru some heavy curtains without getting hit.

Dont hesitate to break throu a wall, when you're sure you hit exactly the space between the two bullets you aimed at, it'll work fer sure

Those are wrong according to the booklet (well, one is). It's correct for Type A (white version) but incorrect (too big) for Type B. Type A's in white is smaller by about a pixel on one side (50% more narrow). It's reversed for Black Label (B smaller than A). Get someone not so drunk to take a picture/scan from the booklet.

Presumably Cave corroborated as there is some seriously detailed scoring information in the booklet. They could've figured it out with trial and error, but I'm thinking not. Three members from Cave (including IKD) are credited as supervisors.

If anyone is in touch w/ the hitboxes, it's the guy that did this run. I can't help but laugh when I watch him do Hibachi.
