ED-057 - Team Old Schoolers - 1,535,830 - 4

After aborting many runs on stages 1 and 2 I get all the way too #4 and guess what happens. I pick up the dreaded hunter and then run into a bullet while I'm trying to aim it in a useful direction. Then the extend appears but it's no use  because not only did I have the hunter but now it's at the lowest power level

ahaa.. its the extend.. i always thought he was refering to the fountain in stage 4 (which is roughly the area i pick it up).. i was: wtf, too big? but i cant destroy it? zipping around madly trying to shoot the fountain for some desparate points
the destruction of everything, is the beginning of something new. your whole world is on fire, and soon, you'll be too..

I keep hearing that too, aswell as "crazy missile", "camping fire", "lightning farce" and"thunder cry".

I couldn't make out what he said when I got the extend, something about it being too big...

I also like it in stage 3, when he says "it's not so easy!" I'm always like, my thoughts exactly!

I don't think this one is right. I've gotten ~75% golds in the 1stage as well as gotten all the medals (30) and I still did not get the bonus (didn't die either).
?

I might be going crazy, but from my testing...

Get all medals = perfect bonus. There are 30 medals in the first stage. [edit: 30, not 28]. Nothing else has been a factor.

This is just from my experience. Maybe there is a difference between regions (Hong Kong - English version here)? I'm using factory defaults as well, quite naturally (difficulty = normal).

[edit: checked some Gamest back issues, didn't find anything explicitly stating the perfect requirements, but I think this pic sort of backs up my findings. Note: "miss" tally is for medals, not lives]
SFKhoa wrote:I noticed once in a while, my ship would RANDOMLY boost speed. What's going on?
It's not random, my friend. Tap and then hold a direction (left or right...lightning quick) for a couple seconds...similar to a run command in fighting games. There's some recharge time though. Seems to be about 10 seconds before you can do it again. It's good for the later stages where there are screen wide sections of medal boxes.

DJ Incompetent - Drink & Fly - bp962a.u45

?...um...I guess that's my high score...until... I can gather why my rom only has three of the nine-somethin' little chip file thingers the emulator says the zip file don't have...and another download only has six....

But don't you fret now....first this rom-fixing bullshit...then the world...

Got a lot better today, finally saw the extend, and felt like posting my score.

Shatterhand - Team Old Schoolers - 1562420 - 4 (Mame)

One life up until the 3rd stage. Lost a life there, but one lifed the 3rd boss in spite of seeing it for the FIRST TIME (well, I tossed FOUR bombs at it :D). died at 4th stage, saw the extend, BOMBED to get it (I thought "Shit if I die now I'll get so pissed.... so I bombed, hehe) , but died twice in a row, with a stock full of bombs... GRRRRRR.

Who the heck said this game was "mediocre"? For me it's being the best game in the whole competition so far.

And I should had stayed shut... FEKA Usa is kicking our ass so far :)

I feel I still can do a lot better... saw stage 3 just a few times, and saw 4 only once. I can perfect Level 1 and 2 without much hassle now. Nailed Boss 1 and Boss 2 patterns too. I still screw up sometimes though (Mainly when I miss out my own timing and end up getting a wrong weapon or waiting too long to get the weapon I want).

Awesome game so far :)

Me, for one, and I guess it can be upgraded to above average. I guess.

ARMED POLICE BATRIDER.

I wasn't intending on playing, it's all your fault. Haven't played yesterday or today, though. Probably will wait until the weekend when the chart starts shaping up.

Same here. It's really addictive! Plus it looks and sounds great. I wonder if the PCB his hard to get a hold of.

Naah, I'm not interested in it, would rather have Batsugun Special. ^_-
Given two bids already with two days left, I'd say it'll be around 12,000Y when it ends.
You're quite lucky too, looks like it comes with the extra bits and pieces. There's none on eBay at the moment, for your info. Took me ten seconds to find the listing on YAJ (and its the only one there).

Its a Rinkya user with the current bid, though, so its either someone here, or an overseas collector.

That's why I thought it might be you.

I think I'll pass on it for now. Since it's rinkya it might turn into a bidding war, plus I'll likely be in Japan in December anyway, so I'll have plenty of chances to hunt for it there.

As for Batsugun Special, it'll probably be easier just to get a regular and then have the Eproms burned yourself, no? For that matter, what's wrong with the Saturn port?

I prefer SMJ. Rinkya is murder on commission when it comes to PCBs.

I like the Saturn port, but it'd be nice to have the PCB for when I eventually get another cab. Eventually. ^_-

Just having some goofy fun with this game at the moment.
Its pretty difficult to:
1) get 100% Gold in any one stage (never it done yet, always one off)
2) break 400k in stage1 (only done once)

I was at the boss too. I was dodging alright, but I ran out of bombs when it sent eight (I think) little square things into the water. They got me :(

I was watching the poll on the weekend and was thinking "Please, oh please vote in Vasara instead of Air Gallet". Now it looks like we copied you guys, haha.

Nobody's who left in the MARP Knockout tournament is in the one here too, so it shouldn't be a problem... but yeah.

yeah, 1) is tricky, but not so hard to do on stage 1 if you give it some Chinese :) I managed it and scored 407k. as there are no extra bonuses it's a bit of a waste of time, as long as you make a fair effort to score you'll probably be getting 380 - 400k on the first level. they really should have stuck a 100% gold bonus in.

I havent managed to get 100% in any level either, but on level 1 I managed to miss only one 2k medal. At this run I made 410k points, and it's the only time I broke 400k at level 1. Then I proceeded to screw up at level 2 :D

I wish I could take a day off work just to dedicate some proper time to this game.... :D

Yeah, its tricky to get all Golds. Not long after posting the last message I went back to the game and did it twice, and at best managed 402k, so I'm guessing the extra points are from weapon impact (not surprising, since I speedkill the first boss).

And yeah, I agree that there should have been a 100% Gold Bonus as an extra incentive.

I've been playing this with the different weapons, usually after I make early mistakes, and I'm thinking that the top-end scores are made with use of the Hunter weapon from the start of the game to the end. Mainly because its so weak that you get a lot of extra points for damaging enemies and bosses with it.
