I vote AUTOFIRE ON so we don't have to hate life until Sunday.

It's completely random for me whether I'm able to destroy it or not.Rob wrote:See edit please. I did it the first time, other times not working although I'm shooting it at a faster rate.
Up close with rapid blasting doesn't work, so you have to be a certain distance away or what?
Shooting or flying over where an H tile would be.And what determines when these appear? H tiles?

The boss takes 8 hits...it's not exactly an engaging bit of gameplay no matter what. Why don't we have a vote? As Icarus said, the game becomes challenging later on, it's not as if auto on= auto win. It has like 24 stages.Edge wrote:Bad news for you guys, I think auto fire ain't ok. You can instantly kill the boss with autofire. Also destroying all ground objects becomes a walk in the park.
So No Auto Fire scores please.
Rob- once the core starts to flash, it can be damaged. If you shoot it before it lights up those hits are added to it's hp after it lights up.

Well I really don't see where the problem is as the game offers AUTO FIRE by default. Just the MAMEfied Auto Fire will break the game.Rob wrote:Good news, a Psikyo practice week!
And if this is going to become a change the rules or I am out debatte. I won't change rules because you like to force them. If you disagree everything can be discussed and you may try to convince me about another opinion. Though forcing certain rules will lead to nothing as rules need some athority to work well for the entire tournament. And they have to be build on pure reasoning, not personal likings / dislikings.
But seriously if you start to skip weeks, this might lead to the end of this whole tournament. Because less people will take part in games they don't like and in the final week maybe having like 20 players still in the tourney... Which shouldn't be the result we are aiming for. If you like to keep the spirit of the tournament you should simply join each week. Even if you don't like a particular game, this tournament is a community thing. It depends and involves all members in it. Everyone is also responsible with how well this goes. I can understand why some are dissapointed, but seriously are you going to die because you play one game you don't like for one week?!?

24 main stages plus the Infinity Stage, which is just a cheap way of saying "lets go endlessly". Difference between this game and other endless games being, its fucking hard to get to the Infinity Stage, autofire or not. ^_-cigsthecat wrote:It has like 24 stages.
@Edge:
I value my health more than I value a forum record, therefore I use auto in games regardless of whether or not it "breaks" them. I opt to skip this one as retro - autofire = wrist pain, and I get enough RSI from both my work and my study.

I didn't mean it like that, I swear. But I can't play non-auto. Oh well.Edge wrote: And if this is going to become a change the rules or I am out debatte.
And thanks cigs for the info on the core bonus.

Hmm... ok, we might do a poll.cigsthecat wrote: The boss takes 8 hits...it's not exactly an engaging bit of gameplay no matter what. Why don't we have a vote? As Icarus said, the game becomes challenging later on, it's not as if auto on= auto win. It has like 24 stages.
And if the boss really needs only 8 hits, it might not be that fatal, anyway.
I go and check it longer in MAME again now.

Sorry, my gaming time each week is limited and valued, and I'm not going to waste it on some shit game like Star Force. I have a Galuda 2 PCB staring at me, why should I waste my time on STARFORCE? Give me a good game to play, and I'll participate. Otherwise, I'm sitting out for the week. This competition is supposed to be for fun after all. If I'm not having fun while playing the game, there's something wrong with the competition, not with my participation in it.Edge wrote:But seriously if you start to skip weeks, this might lead to the end of this whole tournament. I have tried this game longer now and I have to admit Auto Fire don't break the game. Though I think it gives an advantage for sure.
hmm... the main problem with auto fire is that it give inhuman fire rates. Well, why don't we stick with a certain delay for the auto fire? This way the auto fire would be allowed for all games (as it can't change the gameplay at all, no matter which game)
Someone has a suggestion for what a human like delay is for pushing a button (we may go by a fast delay, but still human-like). And is the auto fire delay option in MAME equal in all versions?
EDIT:
My personal fire rate value seems to be around a delay of 4. That's if I try to push fast, which I don't do all the time on a joypad.
