I use a Dual Shock controller which is located to the right of both pics in front of the speaker even though it's a little hard to see.RaidenViper wrote:No arcade stick?
I do plan on getting an arcade stick for when I play the hacked, sped-up version of Ms Pacman. The d-pad on the Dual Shock doesn't allow me to react fast enough.

This thread inspires me to make my own tate setup instead of getting a second cab! Going to search my local craigslist, yardsales and get creative like the rest of yall
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
Got done modding my iCade to my liking a few months ago
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
yes, it's fully DVI-I compliant, so DVI-D + VGA.The Gefen VGA to DVI Scaler plus outputs VGA too?
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
Yes all the xrgb present here - except the D.I.S.P.L ...Why so many different XRGB's? Is that a mini there also?
It's for the mighty collection !!!
And to see the evolution(s) between one and other, when I got time I would made some video capture of a same game with all the xrgb in different way of upscaling...
Or maybe I'm just nuts and crazy about Micomsoft's baby
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
Always wondered how's the XRGB-1 behaves in practice.
There's very few information around.
Is the picture quality really worse than the 2's ?
Does it cut a number of lines like the XRGB-2 does ?
Does it have a wider hardware compatibility like the 2 as well ?
Etc.

Strongly considering getting the same monitor you have. Is there a 27" version?Astraea FGA Mk. I wrote:Do you like it?

I've always played shmups yoko. Never had a rotating monitor, seeing all of these pics is making me consider getting a rotating monitor. Does playing tate improve performance in anyway?
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
Not really. If you are used to Yoko, no reason to change., it just look a lot cooler in Tate

I'd say that a dedicated tate setup has helped my play, personally.
But yes, hard to deny the coolness factor.

My half cab with SD CRT running in Component Video. It's still a WIP.
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
That's pretty cool. where did you get the "lower half" of the cab? Build it yourself? I've been looking for something like that.muckyfingers wrote:My half cab with SD CRT running in Component Video. It's still a WIP.

I had it built by Vincent from http://arcade86.com/ out in Los Angeles, CA
Gonna quote myself from an SRK post, I've since put in some Hayabusa's instead of the Sanwa JLF's. I really like the feel of the sticks. I've also added 2x MC Cthulhu's for my systems.
I found pictures here on SRK of an almost identical build, I decided I wanted one built. I purchased a Lindbergh panel with an Astro City layout and overlay from the Great Jasen Hicks, www.jasenscustoms.com, and found local builder Vincent to make the cab, www.arcade86.com, for me. I think it turned out great, I just picked it up this weekend and have started wiring it up. I still need to pick up a few odds and ends for it, like a black mat or piece or carpet to put under the XM2960 monitor, so it doesn't scratch the top when I rotate it for shmups.
The cab itself was $300, panel was ~$120 shipped, Sanwa buttons and sticks were $95 I think. The reason I went this route was ease of use and parts replacement. I don't need to source any hard to find arcade monitor parts if I don't want to. I can set it up for HD monitor use later as well, plus I am using a PS pad hack and converters to hook up my consoles, and I have a SuperGun set up for it as well.
and some rough dimensions I took from a friends Astro and a pic of the build I stole the idea from.

Thanks, and you're welcome.
Re: Show your Tate setup thats not a cab or arcade machine
This is my home made mini cab. Mostly used to play XBOX360 games, and occasionaly the Dreamcast (though I don't have many TATE games for it). I built it some time ago and made some changes recently, an illuminated marquee and a global power switch under the panel. This is an old pic, but you get the idea.
